Carnival is the best.....

Myself, my wife, mom, step father, brother and sister-in-law all went on a cruise on Saturday, March 22nd on the Fascination. We had a great time watching the ship go under the bridge. My wife and I left my parents to go and eat dinner in the main dining room. While eating we were stopped by a member of guest services and asked to please come to the medical area that something has happened with my step father.

He escorted us to medical where my step father was being treated for a stroke. He, my mom and sister-in-law (nurse) were taken by Coast Guard Cutter to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. This left myself, wife and brother remaining on the Fascination. We later found out that there was too much brain swelling and he has to be taken off of life support after we were able to fly in from Nassau.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the guest services staff of the Fascination. They allowed us to use the satellite phone to call and get updates anytime we wanted at no charge. They cried with us and helped us make our airline reservations to fly to Jacksonville to say our goodbyes. When we arrived in Nassau they refunded all of our excursions, faster to the fun and some other charges. They then escorted us to transportation they had set up to get us to the airport.

We have home one day after losing a man that we dearly love. I received a call from Carnival Guest Care a short time ago and they are refunding all three families full cruise price.

I have seen many posts bashing Carnival; however, we are lifetime Carnival cruisers. They went well above and beyond what is expected.

Sorry for your loss. My uncle died while my mother and I were on BC7. They took such good care of my mother. She had a phone to use, they offered her a drink if she wanted one and a person from guest services stayed with us for several hours offering sympathy and care. Since we were on our way back to Miami the night he passed, we were given priority disembarking and were the first off the ship the next morning. Carnival went above and beyond for my family:)

So very sorry for your loss. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how wonderful Carnival was to you and your family. I'm not one of the Carnival bashers or cheerleaders but I have traveled a lot on Carnival and I'm glad to hear they did such nice things for you and your family.

My prayers are with you and your family in this time of grief.

So very sorry for both previous posters losses. I'm glad you both got the kid glove treatment from Carnival. I will say a prayer for both families tonight. It is always so difficult losing a loved one. There are no words. All the best to both families.

I am so sorry for your loss. That is a terrible thing to happen in any situation.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. These are things that come down to the people and not 'corporate'. Carnival should be very proud of these caring and compassionate employees!
