Laplayaperson Posted July 27, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2005 Hey guys, I need some real answers b/c everythime I call carnival I get a different answer! I will try and make this as not confusing as possible! My friend is in the reserves and booked her cabin and my DH & I cabin together so we could get the military rate. In order for carnival to do this when we booked last year they told us that we needed to put both are husbands in one room and her and I in one room, and when we got onboard just to switch. Her and I made a decsion that I would pay on her and I's account and she would pay on our husbands account. Cruise has been paid in full...no worries there, my problem is concerning our sign and sail accounts? Aren't they going to be messed up? I thought that the sign and sail cards are pre-printed with your cabin numbers, name, and then they put your picture on it during boarding! I'm not worried about the sleeping arrangements that's obviously easy...just switch cabins, she goes in w/her DH and my DH comes in our room we paid on. Yet, won't my husbands sign and sail charges go on their cabin charges and her sign and sail go on our cabin charges? I'm just worried b/c I'm prepaid tips and started a nice on-board credit. How can we get our accounts switched correctly?? I've heard from carnival everything from tell them at checkin, tell them at the purser desk, tell your cabin steward, don't tell anyone, just get another key to each cabin, just switch sign and sail cards (that won't work b/c hello...there is a picture on there)! HELP GUYS! I've done so much planning & learning from these boards, i just want to make sure everything goes smoothly! Thanks for any help or advice! Your guys ROCK! :) Happy Sailing! Sorry so long!.... :o :)
LisaT12 Posted July 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 28, 2005 I can understand your concern. Would this work? you and your husband only use your s/s account card with your cabin number and then just let your friend and her husband use only his s/s account card with their cabin number on it-- the way I figure it -- then you will only have your "stuff" billed to your cabin account and theirs will be billed to their cabin/account. hill6 Posted July 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2005 You can post multiple credit cards for the sign and sail accounts. Your friend can have all charges go to their card.
katie286 Posted July 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2005 As far as I know. the only time they look at the pictures is when you are leaving and returning on the ship. You could switch cards for only when using them (drinks, photos, casino, shopping, etc) that way, your charges are on one account and theirs on the other. If you leave the ship, switch them back so that you have the right picture. OR, you and your husband share your card and she and her husband share her card. That way, the balance on each card is each couples expences I'm pretty new at this (only cruised once so far) :) so someone more experienced may be able to suggest something else. pamurchu Posted July 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 28, 2005 Cannot help with your problem. But please tell your friend a big "Thank you" for serving in the reserves. My nephew has been to Iraq twice. And I sure do appreciate everyone who is doing their duty.THANKS!
dodge9 Posted July 28, 2005 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2005 I can help you... been in this situation before... When you sign up for sail and sign make sure you and your husband sign up under your own credit card and your friends do the same and the charges will not be a problem at all as they follow the credit card they are signed up on and you can use different cards for different people in the same cabin As far as the room key situation, after you board and get settled in your rooms, go to the Purser's Desk and they will issue additional room keys to each cabin, no problem. Don't worry it's not as hard or as confusing as you think and you will be fine, enjoy! Any other questions, feel free to ask.
Laplayaperson Posted July 28, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted July 28, 2005 YES Those are all great ideas! The only problem about us just using my card and her using her card is what if the boys want to go off on their own?? My DH and her DH won't have a card to use?? And I will tell my friend that you thanked her for serving in the reserves! She is wonderful!
big_duck Posted July 28, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 28, 2005 Lisa is correct. Just secure each S&S with your own credit card as if you were four singles.
lynnk Posted July 28, 2005 #9 Share Posted July 28, 2005 actually, whoever told you to just tell them at check-in is correct. we did this on a past guest cruise for my family to get the discount and they told us that when we check in, make sure all four of us are present and they will put the correct people in each cabin and put each cabin on the correct sail and sign cards...no problem...they do this a lot. sounds like you've put a lot of work and a lot of thought into this cruise...time to ENJOY! good cruising! scperk Posted July 28, 2005 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2005 I work for an airline and we have done the same thing.. All you need to do is get a separate card just for keys to each room and have your s&s cards set up on your credit cards////.....so 2 people will have 2 cards. One for sign and sail and one as a door key only...

phabric Posted July 28, 2005 #12 Share Posted July 28, 2005 Myself and DH were to be in 1 cabin and mother and sister in another. At the dock we told them we wanted to switch cabins and they said once you are on board to go the Purser Desk. Pictures were on the orginal S&S card. Mother and sister had separate credit card for S&S cards. They gave us each a new S&S with correct picture and credit card information on them. Our suitcases had the orginal cabin tag numbers so we had to go them, no big deal we were on the same deck. Each person is listed 1,2,3,4 in the cabin and once a charged was billed to the wrong person, we went back to Purser Desk and they changed it with no problem.
