arnie321 Posted April 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2014 As I sit in Raffles Bar on Thomson Spirit in Limassol port I can say the surprise refresh of the ship looks very nice. Lido incl deck areas, raffles, casino, show lounge and other public areas of the ship all look great after the winter refresh. Look forward to a week of sailing. arnie321 Posted April 9, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Looks like a lot of work and effort has been applied during the short period since Sochi and the season kick off last week. Wasn't expecting any upgrades to the public areas, thought that the Majesty was the only ship getting the refresh for 2014. Well done Thomson. Little Nell Posted April 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Excellent news for the Spirit. Perhaps they've learned with this low key approach after the disappointment of the "platinum upgrade" on the Dream and the massive publicity drive that accompanied it. Souloggie Posted April 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2014 Have they now got tea making facilities and flat screens in the cabins on the Spirit? Mark.
naishie Posted April 10, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2014 On the a Spirit last week , much of the carpets were new , there were flat screen TV but only worth while channel was sky sports news , sky news Was on but reception was bad. No tea making facilities in room. Nearly all the sun beds are brand new, many of them stacked up still in the plastic packaging.
Malch_uk Posted April 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Wonder if they will provide tea making in cabins next Winter when they install the balconies. The flat screen TVs have been there for a while. Have they covered over the Lido pool deck as on Celebration?

boatboy2000 Posted April 11, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2014 our first time on Spirit last week but been on Celebration 3 times so layout was no problem, paid a visit to the cinema one day as no chance of that on celebration now, not that we ever used it on there. Was impressed as said above all new carpets in main areas a nice clean tidy ship, will definitely go back on her again.

GOOD to hear of makeover naishie, - not likely to need sun beds on our Icelandic Encounter out of Liverpool 14-May - but with the worlds weather all over the place you never know:) pete
arbhorseal Posted April 17, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 17, 2014 The only place that boat (its not a ship) should be "cruising" to is the breakers yard. Failing that make it a bar in Benidorm....it would feel at home there !

Out of interest have you even been on the ship recently ??

jem16 Posted April 17, 2014 #16 Share Posted April 17, 2014 Wonder if they will provide tea making in cabins next Winter when they install the balconies. Balconies are already installed on deck 9 cabins. On the last night Richard (Cruise Director) announced they would soon have tea & coffee facilities in the cabins. Just can't remember when he said they would have them though. Have they covered over the Lido pool deck as on Celebration? Yes they have. Same new chairs, tables and couches as on Celebration. From our experience, whilst the Spirit may not have the Wow factor of other larger cruise ships, it more than makes up for it with attentive, friendly, genuine & hard working staff. It may seem a little tired in places, but hopefully the refresh will have improved things.

mtt Posted April 17, 2014 #19 Share Posted April 17, 2014 The balconies don't have the same furniture as the celebration, 2 chairs from the lido and a table, all cabins are now fixed doubles, no twin bed cabins at all

It doesn't sound a very good move if it's all cabins- not everyone who shares a cabin wants to share a bed!! kate
