suesue25 Posted April 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2014 How often does Disney discount their deposits ? Is there anywhere to sign up to get the notifications when the deposits drop ?
Loonbeam Posted April 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2014 I've never seen it, other than part of an onboard promotion, or as a local offer. Deposits are fully refundable up to 75 days out so its not a very valuable incentive for them,

DahliaRW Posted April 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Around December 2012 they had a reduced deposit special (10% instead of 20%). I only know because we booked then. I haven't noticed a special since, and have no idea if they'd had them prior to that.
Loonbeam Posted April 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2014 According to the website, they actually have better terms (unless the cabin is marked Restricted due to fare class) - Looks like they can cancel 46 days out and still get deposit back " 45 days or moreDeposit per Guest for Suites/Concierge rooms 74-45 daysDeposit per Guest for Non-Suites/Concierge staterooms 44-30 days50% of vacation price per Guest 29-15 days75% of vacation price per Guest 14 days or lessNo refund Except Concierge deposits. Those are non-refundable.

At 74 days or less it is non-refundable for those not in concierge, but at 75 days or more prior it is fully refundable for non-concierge guests. It is not better terms, you're just reading it incorrectly. ;) Edited April 10, 2014 by DahliaRW
DISNEY FANTASY Posted April 10, 2014 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2014 How often does Disney discount their deposits ? Is there anywhere to sign up to get the notifications when the deposits drop ? Sign up with a good DCL TA and they will tell you, it has occurred on the odd occasion to stimulate sales but not recently bar on the ship. To me you still have to pay the full fare at some point, so a discounted deposit doesn't matter it's a discounted cruise we want. Sent from my iPad. You can change dates, length of sailing and even downgrade your category but the deposit remains non-refundable if it was originally booked as a concierge cabin. It's been like that since about 2004-2005.
Loonbeam Posted April 10, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Nothing to do with booking date: Per the site: "Days prior to Vacation Commencement Date" So 45 days or less prior to cruise you can cancel Concierge or suite and get everything back. 75 days for non C/S. The point is C/S is NOT nonrefundable. All deposits are until at least 75 days out. That means at 45 days or more (so from the time of booking) the deposit is non-refundable for concierge. At 74 days or less it is non-refundable for those not in concierge, but at 75 days or more prior it is fully refundable for non-concierge guests. DahliaRW Posted April 10, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2014 (edited) No, it is not refundable. Look at the table on this page: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/terms-and-conditions/?country=us The FEE amount is "Deposit per Guest for Suites/Concierge staterooms" for 45 days or more before sailing. That means if you cancel, 45 days or more before sailing, you forfeit your deposit. The "fee" is the "deposit per guest". Just like at 74-45 days the FEE is "Deposit per Guest for Non-Suites/Concierge staterooms" and at 44-30 days is "50% of vacation price per Guest". That is the fee. That is for cruises off less than 10 days departing from a US Port. You have to cancel sooner for longer cruises and non US ports, and there is a table for that too. You can transfer and keep your deposit, before 45 days, but if you outright cancel your cruise or never sail Disney you loose it. I think you're reading the table as the "fee" being what you get refunded. That is not the case. Otherwise it would show you being refunded full cruise fare for cancelling within 14 days of sail date, instead of forfeiting the full cruise fare. Don't believe me, call them and ask. The following is c/pd from my reservation for my upcoming cruise in a concierge suite: Onboard Booking: Includes a non-refundable, non-transferable stateroom onboard credit.Deposits for Suites/Concierge Non-Refundable: The required per Guest deposit for Suites/Concierge staterooms is non-refundable and non-transferrable (irrespective of purchase of travel insurance). Note: Travel insurance policies vary and may require full payment for coverage to begin. Please consult your policy certificate for details. As the previous poster said, call them. It's one of the first things they will tell you when booking concierge. Edited April 10, 2014 by hencoll
DISNEY FANTASY Posted April 10, 2014 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2014 Just to add as a regular Concierge cruiser as said the deposit for a suite is non refundable, it can be transferred to a new cruise but never refundable.
