Verizon in Puerto Rico

I keep getting conflicting answers to this question from Verizon employees. Is Puerto Rico covered as part of my nationwide coverage for phone, text and data. Anyone have any recent experience as to if extra charges will apply?

We have used Verizon on all of our trips to Puerto Rico and have never had a problem. We have have been all over the island.

I had the same response from Verizon. Puerto Rico is the same as if you were in the states.
