Rare Jeter02 Posted April 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2014 After cruising on the New Royal, must say lived the digital TVs in the room, which had movies and shows on demand. Really nice feature. I know the CB was refurbished in 2011, was curious if they got the newly added addition? Formerfuzz Posted April 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2014 We sail Saturday on the Caribbean Princess. Are the TV's old style CRT? I was hoping to take a USB drive with shows to play if they are equipped. We were able to do this on the Voyager of the Seas on their Flat panel TV's. Colo Cruiser Posted April 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Not crt's, they are small flat screens non HD. Not sure about the USB hookup.

However on the Royal with new HDTVs (which show mostly SD, not HD) there was no accessible USB port on the sides like I have at home. Even if a port would have been available the controls on the remote and on the TV do not allow input from another source. I wanted to hook up my iPhone to play some classical music but to no avail (their classical channel was ok however). My guess is that this is intentional to limit loud music in the cabins. On my cruise on the Caribbean Princess last December, I took my laptop and was able to hook it up to the TV with an HDMI cable. The TV played my HD output very nicely. :)

Formerfuzz Posted April 22, 2014 #10 Share Posted April 22, 2014 Maybe I'll just take my USB player with a HDMI cable. Problem solved. Thanks y'all!
