Insatiable Caribbean Posted May 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2014 We are sailing on 5/8/14, to Bermuda and the Caribbean and are interested in knowing if there will be a Sunday morning church service on board the ship? Does anyone know if RCCL offers one or if not, is anyone interested in a having a Christian worship service on Sunday am 5/11/14?
Clarea Posted May 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2014 (edited) Royal does not normally hold services on Sunday. If there are clergy on board who wish to hold a service, then Royal will arrange space. Exceptions would be Christmas and Easter when they usually have a service. You should check with your roll call also: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1818613 Edited May 3, 2014 by clarea
cooncat_mom Posted May 4, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2014 We've sailed the Enchantment and the Explorer, and both ships, while they didn't have services, did show a Joel Osteen DVD (The Enchantment in, I think, the Spotlight Lounge and the Explorer in the Screening Room). This was announced in the Cruise Compass for Sunday. The people who attended did their own opening and closing with prayer. I do appreciate that they make the effort to provide a place :)
LindaO Posted May 4, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2014 On our recent Freedom Sailing (which sailed on Easter Sunday) we had a Catholic Priest on board who celebrated daily Mass. Whenever a Catholic Priest is sailing there is usually a daily Mass. Unfortunately, it was held in the Chapel, which is beautiful, but the access is limited to stairs and a single chair lift that is not easy to use. Anyone with mobility issues would have difficulty. yogimax Posted May 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2014 if not, is anyone interested in a having a Christian worship service on Sunday am 5/11/14? I think you have put your finger on an excellent suggestion for RCCL. Simply provide a place for Christians to gather. I'm sure it would be simple to get people to lead a prayer (or have a silent one) and join in fellowship.:)
Langley Cruisers Posted May 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2014 Definitely check your Cruise Compass; it will state when and where the non-denominational service (video presentation) will be held - main theater, or cinema. You might also check with Guest Services when you board; they will most likely let you put a note on the community bulletin board. This is a good way to spread the word that you would like to have a service. Enjoy Explorer. :) .
