Morechampagne Posted June 11, 2014 #26 Share Posted June 11, 2014 Further to my post on 13th May the Captain and other senior staff onboard willingly met us to discuss our exeriences. The whole matter has been handled extremely well. Azamara UK have been superb and we look forward to sailing with them again. :)
Rare English Tim Posted June 11, 2014 #27 Share Posted June 11, 2014 The shore tours dept may have to change their quote, that pax taking ship tours will always be waited for.

Very nice gesture. We are hoping to do something in 2016 ...the 2015 offerings are slim pickins.
excitedofharpenden Posted June 12, 2014 #29 Share Posted June 12, 2014 I missed this story as was away. Sorry to hear about this incident and what some had to endure on the tenders, but glad Azamara came through for you. Phil
Trend Posted June 12, 2014 #30 Share Posted June 12, 2014 It happened on a Celebrity cruise in NZ but they worked through the night in darkness to get people back. On the P&G last year the rope with cable lock was ripped off the ship from the tender being knocked around in the Cook Islands. Water and winds can change quickly. We are hoping to do something in 2016 ...the 2015 offerings are slim pickins. Did you read the certificate thoroughly? I at first thought it was good for cruises BOOKED by May 31, 2015, but it actually indicates that the cruise must be TAKEN by May 31, 2015. I agree--slim pickings, and the Quest is sold out for several months during the time we have left. Disappointing, especially since some of us make vacation plans about a year out and already have committed to other activities between now and 5/15. cruzsnooze Posted June 15, 2014 #33 Share Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) . But I have never seen a cruise that starts or ends at a port when tenders are required [some ports support both docking and tendering if ship traffic is heavy but turnaround ships--rather than those in transit with an intermediate call--will get dock priority]... Logistics--especially with regard to luggage handling--just don't support use of tenders on embarkation/disembarkation days... Celebrity has one ship that tenders both embarkation and disembarkation, the Xpedition. It's done very smoothly with people and luggage on a tender, the crew handle the luggage not the passengers. This was one of the best trips we've ever taken. Edited June 15, 2014 by cruzsnooze
foxeysandy Posted June 17, 2014 #34 Share Posted June 17, 2014 No i didnt read thru Basically its worthless then Disappointing I agree, this is VERY disappointing! We were traveling with a group, and for most of us a highlight was going to the casino in Monte Carlo late at night, which wasn't possible because we couldn't dock there in the evening, and also we were excited about St. Tropez, and had arranged for an independent boat tour in Millionaire's Bay, which had to be cancelled. There's no way that most of us will be able to use the credit for a future cruise if it has to sail before June, 2015. We have loved Azamara for several years, but now not quite so much! I feel especially bad for the people who endured the final scary tender ride, and those who couldn't get back to the ship until the next day and didn't have their medications, but maybe they received a better compensation. I can only hope they were better compensated.... As i feel we were not compensated at all. At the time it seemed a generous offer. Now it just leaves us with a bad taste in our mouth. We enjoyed our cruise but azamara has some areas for improvement. If prices are equal I'm thinking we will venture out and try oceania.
