Rare POA1 Posted May 15, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2014 Don't forget that you can request some special items if you have breakfast delivered during regular breakfast hours. We saw a tip here on CC and found out that you could write in "chocolate croissant" among other items. It's not an understatement to say that this was life-changing. :)

Mytime2014 Posted May 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2014 I am going to seriously hurt myself - I can see chocolate croissants early morning with hot chocolate - why not and some nutella on the croissants, then strolling on up to the Lido for some eggs benedict, and oh wait - a waffle fresh off the iron.... Oh my word. They may have to roll me off the ship. Please don't burst my bubble - I want to anticipate goodness.

Dobermangal Posted August 5, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Yes :) make sure you check out both sides as the hot offering stations are different!
Ugbar13 Posted August 5, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Thanks for replying! Only been aboard Celebrity before, and we found that breakfast in the dining room was the same as the lido, whereas lunch and dinner had different options in each. Wasn't sure if it was the same for HAL or not.
Dobermangal Posted August 5, 2014 #12 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Lunch and dinner in the lido vary slightly from the MDR entree menus. And then there's all the hot and cold extra stations in the lido that aren't offered obviously in the main dining room, like a carving station that varies all kinds of meats, ethnic choices, Italian, it's a truly lovely spread. Tons of desserts, ice cream bar, I Just gained ten pounds :) I love the nights when the crew Get to serve their foods from home, they grin ear to ear when I come back asking for more and a lesson on pronunciation ! Do check with the closing times though if you are a night owl . Of course the 24 hour room service menu is amazing too! C
Dobermangal Posted August 5, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Ugbar13 I see you are going on the Zaandam to Alaska this month! My mother and I spent 58 days on three separate cruises on her last year ... the last one before she went to the Bahamas for her retrofit. You will love the food! Ugbar13 Posted August 5, 2014 #14 Share Posted August 5, 2014 Thanks for the info! I'm excited to hear about the crew serving food from their native countries. And yes, I am leaving this friday, very excited!
Shellback801 Posted August 5, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I see that this is an older thread but it seems the right spot to ask a couple of breakfast questions. We are with the MasterChef group on our upcoming cruise. Some of their activities begin at 0900. Is it possible to get in and out of the MDR in an hour if we were to show up for breakfast at 0800? Also, in regards to room service breakfasts, can I write-in an order for anything from the MDR breakfast menu as long as they're open? Like, for instance, the "Full English Breakfast?" This thread has made me very hungry, by the way.

sportsmum Posted August 5, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 5, 2014 I once wrote in Eggs Benedict on the room service menu but did not get them. It may have been because I also put 'if it can't be done them scrambled is fine'. It was during regular dining room hours. I will try again -this time without the qualifier! Is Holland America the line that offers hot milk as a choice for room service? I'm still on the laptop that doesn't like to open things for me. Thanks!!
