Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted May 30, 2014 #26 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Perhaps the next promo will be 789 choose another line......lol Good one! Really, Celebrity, would just like to relax and enjoy my cruises. All this searching for "bargains" is exhausting.
jgreenwo17 Posted May 30, 2014 #27 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Definitely think the art auctions are taking up an extraordinary amount of space. Do they produce enough revenue to Celebrity to justify that space? No, no, no to movies on deck. Those who want that are free to sail Princess or Disney or whatever. It would be nice to have actual port lectures which are about the history and culture of the port instead of shills for shopping at stores that give the cruiselines a kickback. But I'm not going to hold my breath. I do my own research. Dinner at 5:00 p.m.? I seriously doubt that would be a popular alternative. What I'd really like to see is an end to all these endless promotions. 123 Go, 456 Don't Go, whatever. It's enough to give one a headache. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my current Celebrity experience. Amen! And I second your motion.
shoelover536 Posted May 30, 2014 #28 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Add an activity late night similar to Quest. I don't want to turn X into another line, but the addition of this one activity could be fun.
jenniebnyc Posted May 30, 2014 #29 Share Posted May 30, 2014 I agree the art show is a waste and what horrid art it is! I would charge less for specialty as it's really not that special esp at the new prices. I don't mind paying if it's a great meal, but at the new prices, I will not go. Bring in a famous chef branded restaurant if you want to charge those prices. I mean, why can't we have a Micheal's Genuine restaurant like RCCL?! I love him and his food! And the type of food he serves is right up everyone's alley. WE NEED ANOTHER POOL. Preferably a quiet, adults only pool. If you can't build another pool how about some more jacuzzi's just at a cooler temp OR at least an outdoor shower on the upper decks so we don't have to climb down to the pool to cool off. PLEASE. Get rid of Bisrto on 5. I never see anyone there and the food is really MEH. Glippy gloppy crepes and nothing traditional like you would see in paris on the savory side of the menu. In it's place I would prefer a gourmet burger place; a sushi/asian noodle bar; or really nice salad place that serves organic. I agree more services with Suites. Why suites do not get bottled water in the room but AQ does is beyond me. I wish X would answer this qestion. And if you are going to include flowers in my suite or AQ cabin, please consider something nicer. The flowers are just...ugly. Sorry. Allow DJ to play at night only in contained areas. I feel so bad for the passengers who want to enjoy the card room, library, apple computer space, hideaway and all yu can hear is blasting music at night. It must be awful for them. Jenna109 Posted May 30, 2014 #30 Share Posted May 30, 2014 No art auctions Proper, useful Information about each port instead of just pushing ship tours and tourist shopping Lower price for specialty restaurants Totally agree. Also less paperwork - daily prog. gives all info needed but we constantly get reminders/offers sent to our cabin in an envelope! What a waste:eek:
win1 Posted May 30, 2014 #31 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Implement a new program as part of a refurbishment to offer single accommodations for solo travelers. Champagne Cruiser Posted May 30, 2014 #32 Share Posted May 30, 2014 A website that WORKS! Why can't you just adapt the RCCL website. You are the same company and theirs works perfectly. I spent an aggravating hour on the website this morning looking at Bermuda cruises. Why does it say "offer" and then when you choose it there is no offer? Or when you look at a price and then choose it is $1000 more? Really?? At least go borrow some RCCL IT folks. I really think you are losing customers with your website. rubydoobydoo Posted May 30, 2014 #34 Share Posted May 30, 2014 I wouldn't mind a cabin price that stays the same from the day it comes on sale, if all knew the price would never drop then there would be no last minute dropping of prices, so In theory they could set a lower price to start with I can dream can't I :)
helpthejuggler Posted May 30, 2014 #35 Share Posted May 30, 2014 (edited) Stop all the fake free promos. My next cruise $1350 without 123. $3500 with 123. One expensive freebie!!! Edited May 30, 2014 by helpthejuggler
judyfssw Posted May 30, 2014 #36 Share Posted May 30, 2014 2 things, IMHO. Port lectures not pushing shore excursions. There could also be lectures about ports where Celebrity docks by exciting and enthusiastic lecturers giving us just a preview of things that a person might want to consider doing. EX: show me some highlights from the Hawaii or NZ cruise ports. Might that not raise people's enthusiasm to take another cruise???? And then, it's get rid of the art auction. I've booked as a single on most of my previous cruises and if they insist on charging you double they could at least throw in a few perks - the better toiletries, better Celebrity bag, a few vouchers for Bistro on 5, some drinks, a spa treatment or anything that might make us single bookers feel a bit less annoyed at paying the double rates. I also don't like the "new" deals that seem to happen every week or so. Edited May 30, 2014 by sue58
Rare Germancruiser Posted May 31, 2014 #39 Share Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Well after about 16 or so X cruises- what would I like the see changed. Very easy that one- back to what the X- experiences was when I switched from RCCL to X. ( 2001) I don´t like the way they are going recently- including this 123 or whatever this nonsense is called. Examples: Put the deck chairs back to the prommenade deck ( well there are very few there nowadays ..) - at least on board the Milli- Class ships- where a prommenade deck still exists! I suppose they wont encourage people hanging around that area- were no money can be made. Stop the all around the clock background music ( all over the ship) and get rid of this " liveley athmosphere" nonsense with loud music played ( canned via DJ) around the Atrium Bring back the " last dinner experience" ( old lang syne) always a nice touch to ending of a wonderful cruise I never had a " bad " X experience- but for me it is time to move on and try something different! So I will try HAL- I know , even before I set foot on my very first HAL ship ( Zuiderdam) that I probably will like the interiour of X ships more- but there are a few things that attracted our/my attention. Wrap around prommenade- a bit old style cruise experience.. Well I will see when I come back how the HAL experience was. I like the one comment from the poster... 789 choose another line...! That is exactly what I am doing ! LOL! Edited May 31, 2014 by Germancruiser
Rare Germancruiser Posted May 31, 2014 #40 Share Posted May 31, 2014 As for the solo travelers accommadations- nice idea- but as far as I know on the cruise lines that have them- they are no balcony cabins included in their " Solo Cabins" ! So that wont work for me- as I love my balcony!
Minoushka Posted May 31, 2014 #41 Share Posted May 31, 2014 If your web page states a price do not say its a mistake honour it esp when 2dYs later you put it back up at the reduced price, Allow price adjustments till final payment including transfering to TA if they offer a better deal Honour the drinks on your 1 2 3 and not change the list mid cruise Sell obstructed balconies much cheaper than regular ones Do something more than suchi and pasta before 5 pm Reduce the cost of specialty restaurants ... 50$ ..really ....too much Loosen your slots ..too tight ..no fun ...we stop playing early on the cruise ...no fun to lose all the time Stop nickeland diming More quality shows Keep your original standard of great food in MDR Bring back t pools on all ships ...great selling point ...install them as they are on Millie free of charge ...for that alone I would sail exclusively on Celebrity ...loved the T pool on Millie Cheap nights for different table games ..1 or 2$ to teach the game to cruisers
chrismakris Posted May 31, 2014 #42 Share Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Get rid of the art auctions. But not the art itself. Move the casino to the lounge area where the auctions are held, keeping a small part of that lounge seating for a live band that plays good jazz or a cover band. Turn the area that was the casino into an art gallery that promotes local artists of the destinations where the cruise ship is sailing. And at more affordable prices. How many of us sailing can afford a Peter Max? No sports bar for sure. As much as I would like to watch football can you imagine the sports bar on a sea day, on a Sunday, during football season? Cellar Masters could be scrapped. I found it underutilized on our last cruise. Free Internet minutes for Suite guests.(Minutes would depend on Suite class) The Solo Suite idea is one I would like to see. It would be nice if they could be at least oceanview instead of insides like the Norwegian solo suites. I would like to see drink prices and gratuity included in the fares to make it an all-inclusive experience. I would rather pay $300-$400 more for a cruise and not have to worry about my bill at the end of it. I know people said no to an outdoor screen, but maybe instead of having shows every night, turn the the theatre into an actual movie theatre for one night and have a movie night that shows a current release movie. Maybe do it on the sea day and have multiple movies. Edited May 31, 2014 by chrismakris
Rare welshfamily Posted May 31, 2014 #43 Share Posted May 31, 2014 Good port lectures, including ports from other cruises. IMO This certainly would encourage people to book other cruises. Using the theatre as a movie theatre once a week would be an excellent idea. Perhaps sell popcorn etc, this would raise revenue. Our local cinema live streams theatre shows, opera, dance, ballet and lectures. Could Celebrity introduce something along these lines. Get rid of Art Auctions.... This is a given I just can't understand why Celebrity had them back. Introduce a level between Elite plus and Zenith.....I too would like to reach another level. I love the idea of Bistro on 5 turning into a G. Burger bar .... but I could also go with a noodle bar. Bring back the daily crosswords, sudoku, etc sheets which were by guest services .....little cost but a welcome added extra. Change some of the excursions..... e.g we are going to Rome again this year, we do not want to travel into Rome, Celebrity only offers one alternative. Yes we will go else were privately but not all cruisers feel confidant enough to arrange private tours ......Someone with some imagination needs to re arrange the tours. This would also bring in extra revenue. However if I could only make one change it would be Enforce the no reserving sun beds, publish clear rules and make sure these are stuck to. I refuse to allow any of my extended cruising family to leave their belongings on a sunbed for more than the allowed time. Who suffers....we do! Not the rude, selfish passenger but the polite ones. I will not turn into a selfish cruiser but PLEASE Celebrity occasionally give me a helping hand by actually removing passengers belongings. rubydoobydoo Posted May 31, 2014 #44 Share Posted May 31, 2014 Now I really have thought of something I would like to change Toast ........ The toast machines Are rubbish, all that waiting around for someone to put your bread in a machine that comes out raw, so you wait for it to have a second run and it comes out burnt There must be another way of delivering a decent slice of toast that doesn't take forever
Rare Cruise Junky Posted May 31, 2014 #45 Share Posted May 31, 2014 Some great suggestions have been mentioned already so, I won't rehash those. I'd love to see Solstice do couple of westcoast wine cruises before starting Alaska. First week of May is too early for Alaska so start with 2 x 7 day Vancouver to LA or San Diego wine cruises and start Alaska in mid May where you have a better chance of getting into Tracy Arm. JLSPOOL Posted May 31, 2014 #46 Share Posted May 31, 2014 (edited) Clear a few veranda cabins for Private Function lounges. Leave Sky Lounge open 18 hours per day with bar service available even for am coffee, water, soda, and alcohol drinks. Have coffee carts in the buffet with cups, hot coffee, milk, hot water and tea. Have evening sit down service in the buffet for those who will pay extra for a table cloth and simple menu. Show movies with captions -- no sound for those wanting quiet. Show the movies on deck, in Comedy Central or Quasar during the day. Install better ventilation system over stir-fry station in the buffet. Post all activities and reserved areas at the guest services desk. Serve complimentary coffee at the Passport Bar. Update your rules format so we don't have to constantly check the message board. Give the present CEO a long cruise aboard Celebrity, in cognito, and let him find out what it's like to be an independent passenger on one of Celebrity's ships. Have him try out for Undercover Boss, and reward some of the crew for their hard work. jls Edited May 31, 2014 by JLSPOOL

I should be a Luxury ship patron, unfortunately my bank account says no to Regent or any of the other luxury ships. I'm a stickler for wanting to know what I'm paying for my vacation up front. Not the buy your cruise or plane ticket, then add this charge and this charge etc etc. I accept it because it's part of travelling. Unfortunately with the 123Go promo that they keep offering, people are already subsidizing the drink bills because the cruise fares tend to go up when the promo hits. And gratuities should be included in the price. You're going to pay them anyway, just add them into the price. We've been lucky that both times we've cruised with Celebrity the drink package has been included with the 123Go. The first time I just showed up at my TA's office and she pointed me to Celebrity and said that it was more our style of cruising and that it was a good time to book because of the 123 offer. Our cruise in January was booked onboard the 1st cruise we took so, we weren't really looking for the 123 promo at the time, just a bonus.(along with the OBC for booking on ship). I don't mind if it's just the classic beverage package that's included and the if you want the premium stuff you have to pay extra, that's understandable. Redtravel Posted May 31, 2014 #49 Share Posted May 31, 2014 I would like to return to basics. I like Celebrity. I liked it more before the Chandris family sold it. I remember excellent service in the Zenith and Horizon. Waiters with white gloves. Table service in the oceanview. Assigned tables for all meals. mDR was open fir all meals. midnight Buffets were fabulous. Afternoon tea service included waiters with silver tea sets circulating in many venues, teak deck chairs, library had lots of current best sellers, cabin service was fabulous, fresh bed linens nightly, water pitchers and ice buckets filled often, fruit bowls in every cabin, full service room service with no upcharge, and smiles.....staff and passengers. I would also like better tv selections. Older ships had cinemas with first run movies. Pipe in music and announcement option in cabins. These items were standard on Celebrity. Also every guest was greeted by a staff member who escorted them to their cabins and carried their hand luggage. Let's go back to Basics.
NLH Arizona Posted June 1, 2014 #50 Share Posted June 1, 2014 Wow, some great suggestions for changes, but I wonder how much more people would be willing to pay for these changes. It seems as though many want the best of the best at a really cheap fares. Everything comes with a price.
