Rede411 Posted February 20, 2015 #76 Share Posted February 20, 2015 NCL STAR has two Garden Suites (Haven class) on Deck 14 just above Cagney's.Accessible by Key card from stairway adjacent to the entrance for Cagney's or elevator pass. If you are on Deck 14 in the basketball court looking forward is the location for these. Another viewing point if on the Pool Deck 12 looking aft above the Star Bar (soon to be the Specialty Restaurant Moderno) you will see floor to ceiling windows across almost the full beam of the ship - that is where these are. Your suite location on Deck 12 is perhaps the next best location to all the activities - Pool Library Buffet - one deck up to jogging walking viewing observation - elevators/stairs down to the Stardust Theatre/Gift and Duty Free shops - one more deck to the Casino. A bit of a trek to the Main Dinning Rooms but you will need that to work off the food calories ! Enjoy ! If the Star Bar is turning into Moderno...where will the Sugar Mojito bar go? Will that replace the champagne bar in the Atrium?
triptolemus Posted February 20, 2015 #77 Share Posted February 20, 2015 NCL STAR has two Garden Suites (Haven class) on Deck 14.... Nonsense. Responses like this are exactly what tends to confuse people. As Demonyte said, there is no Haven on the Star. After I just got done explaining the differences, along comes someone and says "Haven Class" which makes no sense in this case. Hell, I'm not sure "haven class" makes sense in any case. It's either the Haven, or it isn't...

If you were maybe expecting to find a Haven on the DAWN Class ships well good luck ! The Garden Villa Suites are the best accommodations that these class of ships have to offer and would be as comparable to the larger ships Hxxxx suites ! There is no confusion and no apples-oranges comparison. If you drive the best in class automobile maybe it is a Cadillac or something else but it is never the less the best car in its class. Some people need to remember this is a forum where the exchange of thoughts on internet are not official documents/contracts with every 'i' dotted and 't' crossed just merely an expression of that posters views - I will leave this be at this point my point expressed !!! When you needlessly refer to them as "Haven Class" you create the opportunity for confusion, particularly when a poster CLEARLY indicates that they are not sure if their particular suite is Haven or not. Linda the Book Lover Posted February 20, 2015 #80 Share Posted February 20, 2015 We are sailing in a category SJ - family suite - and I am reading this...what we have is not this Haven Suite, is it? Guests in The Haven Suites can enjoy exclusive access to The Haven Courtyard, Restaurant & Lounge, 24-hour butler service, priority restaurant reservations, Bliss Collection bedding and much more. Guests staying in Studios have access to the Studio Lounge. We will be on the same cruise in an Aft Suite. There is not a Haven area on the Star. There are a few already signed up for our Meet & Greet for this cruise including some with experience on the Star and Family Suites. I hope you will join our thread. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2085944

Kaboochi Posted April 3, 2015 #83 Share Posted April 3, 2015 Trying to pack light for our baltic cruise. Does anyone know what the toiletries are? I've read many conflicting posts. We are in a standard penthouse, not the owners. Thank you for your information:)

gwsster Posted April 4, 2015 #87 Share Posted April 4, 2015 The regular Owners suite does come with 1 bottle of alcohol. Does this include the Pride of America ship? I have seen posts that state that you get Champagne only. Any recent category SC, owners suite POA cruisers have any information on this?

Bluefox Posted April 4, 2015 #89 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I think you will be on Jewel, right? Your SJ is not a Haven suite. Jewel class ships have a separate Haven area for some suites, denoted by cabin categories which begin with "H" - H1, H2, etc. On newer ships, all suites have access to the Haven, and NCL sort of markets Haven as its suite experience, so some confusion is out there to be had... Wait- which ships give all suite passengers Haven access?? I've never heard that. I thought only Haven guests got to use Haven. We are in the SC - 2 bedroom suite on the Jade. Any clue? Also very excited to hear someone got to use the UDP in their suite free of charge- as my cruise consultant said that wasn't possible. Big tips for the butler that makes this happen for us! :)

Breakaway, Getaway, and Escape are this way. Not sure about Epic. Your SC will not have Haven access on Jade.
Kinofdc Posted April 4, 2015 #91 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Does this include the Pride of America ship? I have seen posts that state that you get Champagne only. Any recent category SC, owners suite POA cruisers have any information on this? First of all, jwm51 was wrong. On every NCL ship I have sailed in, each Owner Suite, deluxe or regular, receives 3 bottles (not 1 bottle as jwm51 stated) of alcohol. On the Pride of America, however, there may be an exception as the designated symbol is SC for the regular Owner Suite. On every ship I've sailed in, the designated symbol for the regular Owner Suite has been either H3 or S3. Just follow the instructions in Vivian's letter to email or call per-cruise concierge for the latest info on the Pride of America. When I stayed in the H3 and H2 on the Jade, Jewel, Pearl, Epic and Breakaway, I always received 3 bottles every time per cruise.
Cruise a holic Posted April 4, 2015 #92 Share Posted April 4, 2015 Our first NCL cruise. We are in a foward facing suite. Does the concierge call or contact you prior to the cruise to help make reservations for all spa, shore excursions, specialty restaurants and shows. Any formal nights on the Breakaway? Thanks

Does the concierge call or contact you prior to the cruise to help make reservations for all spa, shore excursions, specialty restaurants and shows. Any formal nights on the Breakaway? Thanks You will receive a letter from the pre-concierge with some choices of pillows, coffee, etc. you can make your own reservations on line for shows and meals or wait until you board. Your pre-concierge letter will also include a phone number to contact with special requests. A note can be put in your "file" for spa reservations, but those will then be handled on board. You have to book your own excursions and pay for them pre-cruise or wait to do it on board via the concierge. If you want to purchase spa passes they will also make a note of that and you should receive them on board. There are two recommended or hinted-at "for all" nights, but there is no formal night per-se as on other cruise lines. A note about excursions- on our last two cruises we witnessed as Haven guests tried to make reservations via the concierge for popular trips ( one was the champagne catamaran on St Thomas) and they were sold out . The concierge could do nothing to help them except to offer an alternate excursion. Our luck has been 50/50 with requests for our suites ie pillows, coffee, but nothing that really matters. How big a deal is it if I have to ask the butler for certain pillows once on board ? Not at all.

Do not want to pay for anything pre cruise as we have nice credits for all speciality restaurants, internet, shore excursions , alcohol, picture package, shipboard credit and other perks. This is in addition to the suite perks. Guess we will have to call somebody at NCL to assist. Txs Edited April 4, 2015 by Cruise a holic
gwsster Posted April 4, 2015 #96 Share Posted April 4, 2015 I have been trying to figure this out. Looking forward to my cruise and I am going to have fun, but in checking things out this is what I found regarding the different Suite categories. On the Breakaway class ships there are no Suites. All Suites on these ships are Haven, therefore every Suite gets Haven access. On the Jewel class ships it looks like you have Suites and Haven cabins. On the Dawn class and other ships that are not categorized the cabins have a mix of coded rooms, Suites but no Haven (I didn't check all non-jewel or Breakaway classes, but seemed to be the case.) My OS on the POA is category SC and is called an Owners Suite, (on other ships the same configuration is called a Penthouse Suite). The 2 bedroom on the Jade that I have booked is also a category SC. We have been in this Suite before on the Jade and did NOT have access to the Haven. We have toured the Haven on a Meet and Greets, but no other access for regular Suite occupants. My conclusion is that each ship and category is different. I think that the current list of amenities that a kind CC poster listed look good and was very helpful. So I think I figured out there won't be any hard liquor in my Owner's suite on the Pride of America, however a bottle of Champagne will be in the suite for my Sisters to toast the beginning of our vacation. I have the UBP for the Jade so we are covered there! Whoo Hoo! Jan
Cruise a holic Posted April 4, 2015 #97 Share Posted April 4, 2015 You will LOVE LOVE LOVE this suite! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️ Thank you! The youtube videos look great. While my DH and I have cruised about 36 times, and are great sailors- never been sick, I am a little anxious about a forward suite. However, the ship will be docked in Bermuda for three days- so that minimizes sea days.
