Ship - Encore (Alaska sailing)

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9194 & 9196 interconnecting

Stateroom Category – MC

Starboard or Port Side - starboard side

Quiet Stateroom? Pretty quiet for us. During the day and some nights you can hear the faint music coming from the pool deck on 16 when you are on the balcony. Just note that these cabins are right above the District and the deck 8 outdoors lounging areas.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom?  Yes

Balcony View -  standard balcony.

Balcony Size? Standard balcony

Was wind a problem?  It depends on the individual. We got nice breezes when we were out there.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem?  Didn’t even notice , but did see a little on the railing when we first checked our the cabin.

Any specific problems with this cabin? There were no issues BUT the bathroom is a shower/tub combo. Not good for tall or mobility-issue individuals. We almost killed ourselves going in and out of it even while the ship was swaying.

Any other comments? Great location. Close to elevators, atrium, the district, food republic, the encore theatre and on port days-deck 4 mid-ship was used to disembark. We used the stairs most of the time. Elevators may become slow because we did have older people with wheelchairs and mobility issues.

Stateroom:  9316 & 9312

Balcony

Both were very quiet.  Some engine vibration when full steam ahead returning from Bermuda, but not irritating or loud.  Could hear some tables being set when balcony door open after Cagney's closed.  Not a bother and very short lived.

Stateroom does connect with 9314

9316 is all the way at the end of the hall and 9312, two doors over.

9316 had a fantastic large balcony (17.5 feet by 5 feet) that tucks under an overhang.  Had 2 chairs and 2 lounge chairs.  9312 standard with 2 chairs.  No obstructions.  Metal roof for Cagney's outdoor dining directly below us.

Bathrooms as shown in multiple videos.  Very good amount of storage on various shelves.  Shower, single sink, toilet.

No soot at all.  Not terribly windy.

Absolutely loved the location of this cabin.  Close to deck 7 for most restaurants.  Quiet.  Huge balcony on 9316.  Bed closer to patio door in 9316/9314 and bed closer to entrance in 9312.

Made note of location of beds/sofas as I could see into rooms while being cleaned.

Hello wondering if cabin 9314 has the larger balcony like 9316?

Stateroom # - 9864

Stateroom Category – balcony

Starboard or Port Side - not sure

Quiet Stateroom? Yes

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? Yes

Balcony View - Balcony seems larger than those on deck 10 and above. This one just out several feet beyond the floors above it. Deck 8's roof makes it so you can't see directly down into the water.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? -

Was wind a problem? No

Any other comments? There is a bunk that can drop from the ceiling, over the couch.

Bed is next to balcony.

Deck - 11

Stateroom # - 11084

Stateroom Category – Club Balcony Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, VERY quiet even with connecting stateroom.  Located under Garden Cafe seating.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The balcony was located under the additional Garden Cafe overhang.  The overhang helped keep the sun off the balcony except around sunrise/sunset.  It did get in the way for viewing of stars in the night sky.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No, it was perfect.

Any other comments? - The room with very convenient for access to the Garden Cafe and pool area.  It was very near the midship stairs which led right to the entrance of the Garden Cafe.  I was concerned that the tub would be an issue for me as I have osteoarthritis in my right knee.  I was fine climbing in and out of the tub.

Ship - Breakaway

Deck - 8

Stateroom # - 8710

Stateroom Category – BX (Sail Away Balcony)

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – NOT QUIET AT ALL!!! This cabin is located all the way forward one cabin away from the crew bar!!! CONSTANT foot traffic with loud conversations, partiers, arguing, etc. The whole front of the ship is the crew bar which is open until 1:00am. SMOKING is permitted 24 hours a day for crew members outdoors in this area. When it's windy, the smoke blows right into this balcony cabin and also on the balcony itself.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - HUGE balcony! Very long. Had a table and 2 chairs PLUS 2 loungers!

Was wind a problem? - Yes....it was windy and the crew's smoke was a constant issue on this balcony and in this cabin.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - See above. I had to request to be moved, it was so bad.

Any other comments? - Not recommended if you don't like smoke and continuous noise. I think NCL reserves this cabin as a BX cabin so guests cannot choose it.

Deck - 13

Stateroom # - 13796

Stateroom Category – MA - Mid ship Club Balcony Suite

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet except for nights when there was a band on pool deck (Deck 16)...couldn't hear the music but could clearly hear the bass thumping until midnight.  Found out the cabin was directly (well, 3 decks below) where the band sets up their amps.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? -No

Balcony View - Unobstructed view. Balcony railing in the way when you were sitting in one of the chairs, but imagine they are all like that

Balcony Size? It has a normal sized balcony, it was fine for me!

Was wind a problem? No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem?  N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? Other than the bass noise late at night, I loved this cabin but wouldn't pick it again because of the bass noise...I tend to go to bed early and get up early, hard to do when something keeps me up until midnight.  But late owls will have no problem with this cabin!

Any other comments?  My steward was amazing!

Ship -  Encore

Deck -   17

Stateroom # -  17118

Stateroom Category –  Haven 2 Br. Family Villa with Large Balcony

Starboard or Port Side -  Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – The suite itself was very quiet.  But the noise from the cabin next door does travel if both cabins have their balcony doors open.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. –  The view was amazing.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized.  We requested our butler bring us two lounger chairs and we still could comfortably have a regular deck chair as well.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? -

Any other comments? - We travelled as a party of 2 and loved the extra space.   I would feel comfortable traveling in this suite as a party of 4 (but not two couples), maybe 2 adults and 2 children.  I think putting 6 in the space would be tight,  unless you were truly just sleeping in the space.  -FWIW YMMV

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9154

Stateroom Category – Balcony BF (assigned from Sailaway)

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue.  No obstruction looking from 90 degrees and forward. Slight obstruction by roof of Brew House looking down and aft at an angle.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal. Small table and two chairs.

Was wind a problem? - No.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No. One morning they were cleaning the balcony and windscreens above as we were underway, and water splashed onto the railing and outer portion of the balcony.

Any other comments? - Good combination of design, space and amenities. Southbound this is the sunrise side. They are not automatically providing coffee supplies and a robe right now, need to ask steward or leave a note. The coffee maker was on top shelf of the closet. Convenient location for those using the forward restaurants and Observation Lounge. Most Sailaway balconies were assigned to this Deck, but I would not want to be any farther aft.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Oversized. The balconies on Deck 17 extend twice as far out as those on Deck 18. This is an accessible cabin and was larger than the other HE cabins. The balcony appeared to be the same size as an H5 - 2BR Family Villa with Large Balcony.

Was wind a problem? - We didn't notice it much on the balcony.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - None.

Any other comments? - This cabin is just a short distance from the main Haven door and from the hallway door that takes you into the lounge area. There is an elevator in the lounge which will take you up to the Haven facilities on Decks 18 & 19.IMG_20220205_172144407.thumb.jpg.e72f5e690a039896874e6502c0e39916.jpgIMG_20220202_120317661_HDR.thumb.jpg.5918a4ac6cd5c176d3979c19eb50710e.jpg

Ship - Epic

Deck - 17

Stateroom # - 17026

Stateroom Category – H6 Haven two bedroom suite

Starboard or Port Side -Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Yes, very quiet.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – No obstructions. Height gave great view.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No problem

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The lighting control panel near cabin door was labeled with modes, but not terribly clear what lights were involved. Other panel in bedroom had no labels so we had to experiment and remember which number to use. TV in main bedroom was big, maybe 50 inches, really too big for the wall and something you had to be careful dodging. Closet in bedroom had a funky latching mechanism that I was always wrestling with.

Any other comments? - Very nice post-2020 refurb in these rooms. The bathroom suite was spectacular, with views from tub and shower. Large living room with plenty of room for room service dining.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal tiny balcony

Was wind a problem? - not in balcony door noise

Any specific problems with this cabin? - too much creaking under rough sea conditions. it's a crapshoot but dont bet on this cabin for quiet.

Any other comments? - As measured by the extension of my arms, this cabin bathroom is larger than on my suite on another ship so i recommend springing for the larger bathroom. you wont regret it

Ship - Getaway

Deck - 9

Stateroom # - 9106

Stateroom Category – HG Haven Forward-facing balcony suite

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – During the day, very quiet. At night, not so much. The crew smoking area/bar is just forward of this cabin and one deck below. You could hear the crew talking, laughing, yelling, etc. until as late at 2:00 AM. We complained to the concierge but it did not seem to have any effect. Also, the winches for the mooring lines are just below this cabin, so whenever we entered/exited port we heard the winches going, which was quite loud.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes, it connected to a balcony stateroom.

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – The balcony was the same size as a typical balcony stateroom, with the nicer Haven furniture. The balcony is well-protected from wind due to the forward fairing of the ship. View forward is slightly obscured by the fairing. Since this suite is at the front of the ship, there is also a window in the bedroom looking out the front of the ship. However, this view is partially obscured by the bow of the ship. The forward window also looks down into the crew smoking area. We kept the shades closed most of the time on this window.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Smaller than other Haven balconies.

Was wind a problem? - No. The fairing sheltered the balcony from wind and sun.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - The noise was the only issue. Otherwise the cabin was great.

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Noise was never an issue unless kids were running down the passageway.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Unobstructed, great view.

Balcony Size? - Standard, 2 chairs and small table.

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Being almost exactly between the elevator banks means pre planning whether you want to go forward or aft, not exactly a big deal 🙂

Any other comments? - The extra large jetted shower was fabulous, the size of the bathroom alone could almost convince me to shell out the extra $$$ but I think the standard balcony bathroom has more shelf space?

Bed was next to the balcony, easier access to the closet than the reverse layout IMHO. Tons of storage.

Midship location was convenient (could be an problems for those with mobility issues) and minimized problems with motion, being sandwiched between decks of cabins meant it was quiet.

Had no problems with keeping the temperature where we wanted.

Would book this cabin again for sure👍

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue. – None.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - a little bit bigger than normal NCL balconies but the extra space you gain is really goes unused.

Any specific problems with this cabin? No.

Any other comments? - Great location, right across from the stairwell that takes you up and down to different places in the courtyard. Very quiet. The bathtub might present problems for some with showering as it's a huge step to get into the tub.
