I have one question, are ecigs allowed or not? This is no different than someone smuggling, wearing shorts to dinner, etc. If Carnival says that is allowed then fine but if not someone should have told that person to stop. I for one do think they smell (not a good smell). I was out to dinner last week and someone had a ecig and the restaurant told them not to smoke it there. When is rule breaking acceptable and when is it not?

It is my understanding that the rule for ecigs is the same for the real thing, they can only be used in smoking areas. I do agree that rules should be followed but also feel that it's not my place to police the rules (in other words the "someone" telling the person to stop won't be me, unless it's affecting me).

Are you serious right now?

Here is what I do if I don't like something....I avoid it. Plain and simple. Why must one go looking for trouble?

I would have reported it to the Port Authorities at the next port of call. It is an assault and should be actionable.

My wife and I have had to leave the Theater on Carnival many times because of the vapor that pours out during their production shows. I suppose it is to simulate a cabaret atmosphere, but it is offensive and unhealthy.

I have written to Carnival many times about this, but all I get as a reply is some variation of the "we always strive to make your cruise more pleasurable" letter. They are the biggest violators of the no vaping policy, and I am sure that this is part of the reason for the Love and Marriage and Hasbro shows. I think Carnival realizes that their fake smoke is endangering passengers.

Really?!?!? Ah the tattle tale, what fun you must be.

I would have left the area and asked a Carnival representative to address it.

The secondhand exposure to nicotine and the other chemicals in e-cigarettes IS harmful to the user and those around him or her. These passengers were being inconsiderate.

I would have done nothing, if I would have said anything it would be to congratulate them on their steps to stop smoking. A good friend of mine had e cigs for a year then quit altogether...anything that helps health of a former smoker should not be 'stared down'.

On the e-cig water vapour/chemicals issue...

The vapor produced is no more harmful then various other chemicals and substances that float around around our breathing space in every day life. Remember how often we are told that this and that is a toxin or a carcinogenic yet most of these things are not banned in public spaces. The absence of odour is something that should be noted in how much more healthy it is than a cigarette. I have read the various reports on that e-cigs have this and that and are dangerous....who do you think possibly funded some of the supposed research into this? You guessed it....the billion dollar tobacco companies. Medical research can be funded by the biggest fat cats around with ulterior motives so do not believe all that you read. As for the brands of US e-cigs I cannot comment but I do know the larger brand ones sold over here have gone through rigorous testing.

It is this fact that means you can smoke them anywhere in the UK and various other places around the world. They have been banned in certain places (such as airlines) due to perception and not health I believe. Folk are worried that it may be real smoke or smokers will light up thinking its ok.

Thank You VelvetWater,

You pretty much summed up what I would have said....I just don't understand when we became a society that worries all the time about what others do in life...I grew up in the 60's and 70's and remember when people stayed out of other people's business....but we seem to evolved into a society of entitlement...such as "it against my beliefs or how I see things, so I am entitled to tell people so"....no your not!!!!!! I am not sure how we have got to this point, and I am sure that could be a whole other thread, but I will say one thing....I smoked for 20 or so years, I chose in February to try the vapor cigarette, because I was tired of feeling bad, smelling like smoke, and the price of the cigerettes....and now I only use my vapor cigarette, and my whole family is so excited for me and my husband loves that I only smell fruity now days, and I have saved the money every week that I would have spent on cigarettes....so why can't others just be happy for those of us that are trying to help ourselves....why do they have to be so hateful....is nothing ever good enough for the judgemental people in this world.....Live your Life and let other's live theirs....I could care less what others do in their lifetime....I am too busy living mine!!!!!

If Carnival allows e-cigs, then I would have said - nothing. However, if it doesn't, I would have informed a Carnival employee. Princess allows e-cigs unless another pax complains. In that situation, the person smoking the e-cig must stop. It really doesn't matter what anyone "feels" about the subject - it's whether Carnival allows it.

None of which entitles you to ignore the rules, of course. (And I do know how hard it is to quit smoking, tried for 30 years until a heart attack at the age of 47 forced the issue.)

This is so beautifully (and perfectly ;)) stated...thank you. IMHO there are those who will just continue to b*tch & moan,, until everything...all behaviors...are exactly how they want it: Heaven forbid no smoking, or vaping, or drinking, or people wearing too much perfume, or people with kids on the ship, or people who wear shorts in the MDR, or people who put flip-flops on a lounger by the pool at 6AM !

You get my drift ;)...there are people who simply cannot be pleased... regardless of the circumstance. I don't understand it, and frankly, have little regard for this type of person at all. The less I can interact with intolerant, judgmental & negative people the happier I am. Life is too short.

My wife would:

If the evil stare didn't work, would immediately run back to the cabin, lock the doors, log onto the internet, pay $10/minute, research Carnival's rules again, log onto this site & immediately post to ask what to do next...

I would:

Leave, go to the cigar lounge, light up my Cuban cigar & enjoy the cruise...

I can only speak for myself. However, until they have fully studied Vaping and what it puts out into the air.....(I know many insist it is like someone breathing but there have not been scientific studies out yet and I CAN smell different scents coming from some of them) I would prefer to know what areas I can go into safely. If you are Vaping in the theater or dining areas....it is hard for me to not be in those areas. I will choose to not go to the casino as I know that is a place you are allowed to smoke or Vape. Again....I will follow the rules and not complain.

As long as you choose a habit that impacts my health....I don't want to be around it. I am happy that you hope to quit smoking......I promise I won't complain if you go to the theater or MDR with your body covered in nicotine patches....because that will NOT effect me. However if you Vape in any space not designed or allowed...I will complain.

That being said I have recently started buying non vapor, they are the same thing but as long as inhaled releases no vapor so no one can see it

Might I ask where you get such a thing? Is it a different kind of liquid or a different type of device all together?
