cruise_alot123 Posted July 12, 2014 #101 Share Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Well, I may come, too. Need to get in to practice for next week on Getaway! Is it only poker or do the other tables games get you status, so to speak? This is the casino right off of 295 - as though I were heading to National Harbor from BWI? DH and I are tired of the Hollywood Casino at Penn aNational. I am right on the Mason-Dixon Line. Question I actually was going to ask- can you book a casino thru CAS only if you have been comped?or do they have special prices for different tiers of players? I really mostly would just like a drink card .... Ann I mainly play poker and was surprised that I got a free cruise. However, I am a platinum and do put in 14 hrs a week in poker so not sure if that qualified me for the free cruise. You have to book thur CAS if you're comped as in my case I booked my thur CAS. Just give them your free cruise cert. number and tell them what date and where and that's it. The free cruise also comes with the free drink card when you are on board. If you are not comped, you can still book thru CAS but you only get 10% discount. However, they tend to sell you the higher end cabin so you ended up don't save much. As for the different tiers, not sure how that works since I got the free cruise as to someone who actually paid so I never asked the price differential. cruisinwithinlaws Posted July 12, 2014 Author #102 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Ok...I'm a bit calmer now. I'm still pretty upset with the snappish customer service. The items listed were not deal breakers...just things I wanted to question, CS was not nice about the delivery is all. They were VERY clear that I could NOT buy for my son only on board. He said I was taking a big chance not bringing my own soda on board. And to be honest....a big part of ds having the card is to not having a 14 year old stopping at the cabin twenty times a day for soda (wink). It may be worth having to buy it for everyone after all. I will have a great time no matter what but I will not deal with their cs ever again. Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app
cruisinwithinlaws Posted July 12, 2014 Author #103 Share Posted July 12, 2014 oh...and I'm not really sensitive to the mocking etc.. I do believe that the testiness of customer service deserves some venting. This is the place to do it. Everyone has a complaint now and again. This is my first in 10 years of cruising....hmmmm:rolleyes: Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app

Anne, from my understanding which may be wrong. I do believe that the casino comped cruises come with the drink card whether it's directly from Norwegian CAS or your local casino. At least it has been in my case. But what I have noticed is that whether you lbooked through the casino or not the first time you arrive at the casino board ship you need to get a players card. And I do believe that once you've reached 1500 points they will either offer or you can request a drink card but I think the drink cards are leveled. I'm not a big drinker, and I drink mostly wine rum and Coke Bahama mamas that level. On my last cruise in November I ordered a white Russian and my little gal Eda was so sweet but she said that wasn't included. Didn't bother me I love white wine. So the tier level I have no clue. But you need to book your cruise and Hey, like they say cruise like the Norwegian. Hope to see you all on one of my future cruises have a blast you guys Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
cruise_alot123 Posted July 12, 2014 #105 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I don't drink at all except water so I tend to order my free drinks at the casino and give them to my cruise mates. Also, remember to use the casino VIP checking so you'll be on board in 5 mins and you can also use their VIP lounge at the pier.
my2grls98 Posted July 12, 2014 #106 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I have cruised with Carnival for years and thought to give NCL a try this year. I have been nothing but disappointed and we are not even set to sail until December. First of all, I have been on hold with them twice for over 20 minutes each time, both of which I ended up hanging up before being helped. Second of all, my teenager loves to get a soda card but we do not drink soda. NCL tells us we either have to inconvenience his privileges and bring his soda on board with us, pay for his individual sodas all cruise or buy a soda package for ALL of us. Totally unacceptable. The boy is already bummed about no free daily sushi. The worst part is every time I do call to ask a question, the customer service is severely lacking. Not that I expect the answer I want every time, but they are not even sorry about having to deliver the bad news. I get a true feeling of 'take it or leave it' from them. Almost to the point of rudeness. I am pretty sure we are going on our first and LAST NCL cruise. #THIRDWORLDPROBLEMS if this is what you have to complain about..think about how much more worse it could be. Cancel your cruise and go back to Carnival. We are going on our 2nd cruise on the Getaway next March! (having just cruised it this past April) My sister has been on both Carnival and NCL and says both have their pros and cons and each one cancel each other out. Personally, we are now NCL snobs. Get yourself a TA and go thru them. We have one thru NCL and I never have to wait for him to pick up, or if I leave a message he calls back within a few mins. I will agree, when calling NCL #1800 it is a long wait, thus why we now have a TA. Build a bridge...and have fun! Geeze.

cruise_alot123 Posted July 12, 2014 #108 Share Posted July 12, 2014 (edited) Ok. If u booked thur CAS or if u have a CAS free cruise cert. then show them at the check in and they'll give you number 2 blue boarding ticket that's the casino vip. Number 1 boarding ticket is for the heaven guests and the casino VIP lounge is on the opposite side of the checking. We are talking about the NYC pier, right? I used it back in March and my casino vip boarding ticket is blue number 2. Just show them something with the CAS then you are CAS vip. Done it 2 million times. One more thing, the drink card is only good at the casino not anywhere else. Edited July 12, 2014 by cruise_alot123

hawkeyetlse Posted July 12, 2014 #110 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Ok...I'm a bit calmer now.Glad to hear it. I can certainly relate to being annoyed by something and being tempted to vent to anyone who will listen in the heat of the moment. (Unfortunately, if you post it on the internet, it stays there forever.) Now that you've calmed down, could you tell us if you still stand by the following statements from your earlier posts: "this particular cruise seems to be all wrong for us" "I am pretty sure we are going on our first and LAST NCL cruise." "I already hate NCL"

gooch47 Posted July 12, 2014 #112 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I think you have to be very specific when you ask about drink packages as the UDP package (booze) package must be purchased by everyone but the soda package does not.
Linday Posted July 12, 2014 #113 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I think you have to be very specific when you ask about drink packages as the UDP package (booze) package must be purchased by everyone but the soda package does not. This is incorrect...at least as far a pre-ordering. I do not know when this policy changed because my husband used to buy it and I didn't but that is no longer the case. To everyone who keeps telling the OP this (probably based upon their prior experience)...if you have booked a cruise within the last 3 weeks or less, please go to your online reservation and try to order it for one person in your cabin. If you are able to do so I will be surprised, apologize for being wrong and ask NLC to let me do it too.
Cruisercl Posted July 12, 2014 #114 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I know that things occur but less than 30 minutes ago I called the direct number the 877 number for Norwegian a recording came on and asked if I needed a reservation for if I had one of course I chose that I had one with and three rings it was answered by a live person in less than five minutes on my questions were answered and the representative could not have been more cordial just saying sometimes it's just the luck of the draw I was very lucky I got a magnificent representative just hoping your next encounter will be as nice as mine was Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk This has always the kind of customer service I have received from NCL when I have called. Sorry that others have not received in kind. No 1st world (small) problems here. :) Happy and safe cruising all!!

But it would be the pier out of Miami and the next cruise is out of Houston but thank you so much for the heads up ,gives me something new to check out .again thank you At Miami, after going through security heading to check in. There was a sign with a person standing there saying "casinos at sea guests". She checked our ticket, opened the rope and we checked in. We boarded at 1200, which according to the Lat party announcement had 4600 passengers onboard and it would not have made a difference if we used CAS line or general boarding lines. They were all empty. Miami has their "stuff" together. Have no idea about Houston.
cruisinwithinlaws Posted July 12, 2014 Author #116 Share Posted July 12, 2014 I will withhold judgment until I return. Hate was a strong word. Although I am still irritated. I have to apologize for giving into anger. I do not usually. Must have snapped there for a minute. I should have let everyone know that the handicapped help team was not being very helpful either. So I was feeling very ganged up on by NCL at that moment. My husband is disabled and we do of course book a wheelchair accessible room....but there were other issues. I will give it more time to work itself out. Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app
tutuwahineLV Posted July 12, 2014 #117 Share Posted July 12, 2014 Food for thought: If a cruiser's expectations aren't in line with reality, does that mean that the cruise line is at fault? I agree... but many people these days choose to blame everyone/thing except themselves. I can't see how having this "already hate NCL" opinion is condusive to having an enjoyable cruise. If I felt that way about anything, and hadn't reached the point of no return/cant' cancel point....I'd certainly be cancelling and finding something else that I didn't feel I already hated....

cruisinwithinlaws Posted July 13, 2014 Author #120 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I wasn't lurking btw. Just been crazy busy. I don't really care about the silly sushi, I just did not want the boy to be disappointed again. If I have to buy a soda card for all of us, I will. I cannot push a wheelchair and lug soda but it just seems as if ncl assumes people will share. Why not enforce penalties on those caught cheating rather than penalize everyone indiscriminately? I understand that my original post was harsh, and I don't take offense at the strong replies. I reap what I sow. I will enjoy myself no matter what and a good cabin steward can fix anything. Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app Yes it was fairly harsh as the word hate among others is such a strong emotion, when all it is, is a companies policy and everyone has the choice not to cruise with a line if they don't agree with its policies. For me the irony was that of all my cruises I'd put my one Carnival one as just about my worst, along with Costa but I'd never have gone on the Carnival forum and say I hated it. I'd imagine I'd get the same strong, blunt and defensive reactions if I had that you got. You have to me shown a strength in character coming back on here and once again shown that we can all have different views and even arguements yet get on with things. Thank you

RuthlessBoss Posted July 13, 2014 #124 Share Posted July 13, 2014 I bet the free sushi and one person soda package was really appreciate on that carnival ship that floated at see for days with no power. The thing is don't sweat the small stuff there most likely be something free daily your son will like and like the others have posted get the package on board for one person. There is an Access department who might be able to facilitate other issues. Enjoy the cruise. The shipboard experience is miles ahead of the phone experience. Stephen .
