Boozebabe Posted July 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2014 So I booked a casino cruise today on the Breeze Jan 25, 2015. Have never booked that far out before. Its 186 days til we sail. Don't know how I'll get by waiting that long. Other trips to other destinations (most likely Vegas) might help kill the wait time. Until then there is lots of planning as we will be driving to Miami this time. Retirement will allow us to take our time getting there. So if the weather is bad here we can leave earlier than planned. So my friends here at CC, guess I'll be doing a lot of "cruising" right here until then. Now to find a hotel where we can leave the car etc, yadda, yadda, yadda.
riffatsea Posted July 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2014 We also booked quite far out this year for the first time!! We don't leave until March 28,2015 and I think we booked it back in May! We have lots of smaller land trips planned to Palm Springs, Maine, Maui etc. before our cruise next spring! Being retired is just wonderful!!! But because of switching jobs I kinda missed out on vacation time and another person had already requested off time in january 2015 and I really wanted to go in January, so we just skipped a year. Might be crazy, but our anniversary is in January so I would rather skip a year!
Lovefuninthesun Posted July 23, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2014 We usually book far ahead - it's more budget-friendly, more time to pay it off! :) Sent from my iPhone 5 using Cruise Critic App
cdnmr Posted July 23, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2014 The waiting is so much easier if you have other cruises booked in the meantime. Just booked Jan 31, 2016 out of New Orleans this morning....returning to New Orleans on Feb 7th and Mardi Gras! :D

Just booked Jan 31, 2016 out of New Orleans this morning....returning to New Orleans on Feb 7th and Mardi Gras! :D True dat. And, as others have said, having several land vacations in between is nice, too. The farthest out (by far) I've ever booked was 383 days out  - for our upcoming Carnival Pride cruise. The good thing about that was it allowed us to pick the exact cabin we most wanted - something we had never experienced before.

Boozebabe Posted July 24, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I am in the middle of selling a business right now and if it weren't for that I would be taking a cruise much sooner. But transactions like this take a while and I need to be in town until it is all finished. But as soon as that happens....Katie bar the door because I am outta here to somewhere. Rare Tapi Posted July 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Jan 25, 2015. Have never booked that far out before. Its 186 days til we sail. That seems like it's around the corner compared to when I normally book. After we return from our next cruise, the next one isn't until March of 2016!
Rudyard Posted July 24, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 24, 2014 The time will fly by before you know it. I booked my current cruise over 400 days out. Of course at that time it helped that my last Triumph cruise was only about three or so months away. Just finally being in double digits make it feel like it's almost here. It's pretty fun having plenty of time to think of things to do and planning the trip...airline tickets, hotels, etc.
Boozebabe Posted July 24, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted July 24, 2014 This trip for us will be a little different. We plan on driving to Florida so theres a route to plan and stops along the way and back home again. It will also give me the opportunity to visist a friend who will be living in Florida by then. We also love to eat at places featured on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives so we will research that to find some places along the way. We have eaten a couple times at Grampas Bakery in FLL. We will have as much fun getting there as the actual cruise. Well....maybe almost as much.
richfret Posted July 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I like booking a cruise while on a cruise to get the $100 credit. I usually book 12 to 14 months in advance. The important thing is to select the right Buying Rate so you can adjust pricing should the pricing be reduced during the waiting time. With the Military rate, you can get any price adjustments up to final payment which is about 45 days prior to the cruise. It is even better with Early Saver since you get the lowest price up to the sailing date. With Early Saver, however, you may have problems should you need to cancel the cruise. So the Buying Rate can be a very important issue if you are buying well in advance.
pdcat21 Posted July 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I wish my next cruise was that soon! I have everyone beat. Mine isn't until April 2016! (Dad wanted to to land vacation next summer) Oh well, gives me more time to plan.

golfadj Posted July 25, 2014 #22 Share Posted July 25, 2014 We are starting to cruise to Europe and for those need more time to book tour guides and plan. Cruiserpkg Posted July 25, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 25, 2014 Sadly, I think mine will take the longest wait prize- I have to wait until the cruises are posted for summer 2016!!! This breaks my heart ! I long for the day that they post more 2016 sailings so at least I can say I am booked!
