Wdavid1019 Posted August 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2014 I understand that we will be tendering at the Bar Harbor port. We have a private tour booked for 10 am (the tour office is just a 15 minute walk from the port). Does anyone know if tender tickets are issued early in the morning or do we just show up at the gangway. If tender tickets are issued, how long does it usually take to get off the ship onto the port? I honestly don't remember if tender tickets were issued when we went, but that being said, we were among the first people off the ship without getting tickets. In fact, we were off the ship so fast that we beat the tour's employees to the pick up point. You will not have any issues. This was our favorite port. gerif Posted August 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 9, 2014 We were on a ship sponsored tour and had to meet in one of the lounges to be escorted to the tender. Not sure about others though. I might mention that on your way back there is a little stand a block or so from the tender dock with wonderful lobster rolls and homemade ice cream. There were a couple of tables off the sidewalk. No dinner for me that night.
Saab4444 Posted August 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2014 If you are not on a tour from Royal tender tickets are required in the morning. Royal tours are first to leave the ship. It can take a while to get a ticket and to leave as an individual guests if you follow the official procedure. The better the weather is the more people are trying to get off fast.... Paulxyz2004 Posted August 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2014 Keep in mind that weather in Bar Harbor can have an influence on tender operations and there´s a possibillity for missing it alltogether due to weather issues like quite frequent foggy conditions. The way they operate the Tenders / tender tickets can Change from trip to trip, so there´s no real telling how it will work for you.

We've missed Bar Harbor twice now because of inclement weather.
