Anyone ever request preferred 'upgrade' and got it?

Just curious, has anyone every booked 'guarantee' and then contacted Carnival (not PVP) to put a 'note' on your booking that IF you were upgraded, where you'd prefer to be upgraded to. If so, did you get it?

If booking a guarantee-= you can not request where your "upgrade" will be. Thats why the guarantee rate is cheaper then booking a cabin.

 

Majority of guarantee cabins get the category within the booking. Rare do you go to the next category

This whole requesting an upgrade thing has always seemed like a bit of a unicorn to me. Plenty of talk about it, but I don't think it actually makes a difference. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes with guarantees to decide when/where your cabin is assigned though that there are plenty of theories. For PVP's who tell you you're on this "list", they look like a superstar if you do happen to get upgraded though.

 

The only thing my PVP has said that I do believe about guarantees is if you're linked bookings they'll try to accommodate you close by if you request it. It makes perfect sense to me and has always been the case when we've done guarantee.
