Bus to mullet and walk to Maho?

Don't know what the 1.30 means, but many bus rides are $2. Including Philipsburg to Marigot.

As noted before, you'll need two bus rides to get to Maho from Marigot.

First bus is from Marigot to Cole Bay (bus will say Philipsburg or an abbreviation), tell the driver that you want to transfer to a bus to Maho and he should help you get off at the right spot. It would be just before the roundabout before the bus heads up over Cole Bay Hill.

Then you walk down the road a bit to in front of the KFC and catch a bus coming from over the hill for the rest of the way to Maho/Mullet. I believe that each ride will be $2.

I mean 1.30 as in is the bus fare $1.30...for some reason I read some post mentioning that since the fare is a half fare instead of the full way to Phillipsburg?

Here's the deal on buses.

I believe that all this information is current, but I keep hearing about

raising the bus fares.

From Philipsburg to Marigot is $2, each way.

From Philipsburg to Mullet Bay (including Maho) is $2 each way.

There is not a direct bus from Marigot to Mullet, and you have to change

busses in Cole Bay. There is not a transfer privilage, and you have to pay

the fare again. This fare may be less than $2, but it is not an official

published rate that I have ever found. Perhaps it's only a dollar.

I'm uncertain about a Mullet - Marigot ride, as you'd also have to change

busses in the same general location and pay two fares.

The rate from Philipsburg to CostULess (Costco junior and they sell some

Kirkland products) is only $1, but I suspect few cruisers go there.

Past CostULess, over the hill, it is $1.50 until you cross the bridge, then

it is the $2.

Going the other direction from Philipsburg, the fare to Amsterdam Shopping

Center (near the Zoo) is $1.

Into the residential district beyond Amsterdam is $1.50 until you pass Dutch

Quarter, then it is $2 for the ride as far as French Quarter.

The ride from Philipsburg to Point Blanche (Cruise Facility, Residential and

Prison) is $2.

There is a Ring Shuttle that loops around Fort William Hill from CostULess to

the Medical Center, Little Bay and back that is only $1.

Children pay half price.

Infants and seniors (65+) ride for free.

Rates go up after midnight.

  • 1 month later...

Just came back from the trip and thought I'd give the updated info to this.

Basically it's $2 from Phillipsburg - Marigot or to Maho beach...From Marigot, it's $1.50 to the halfway point to switch bus, then another $1.50 to Maho.

It was easy! :)

Great info. For those that want to "splurge"...the taxi's from the actual ship pier (no walk into town) are [and this is from fuzzy memory] $8 each way per person from pier to maho sunset beach bar). For the extra money you don't have to walk from or back to the ship...just put that out there for those that want another option.

we usually rent a car. about $100 for jeep, around $50 for compact car, plus some gas...booth right at pier has 3 or 4 rental companies. Depending on how many people are in group this can be about same price as taxi's and have more flexibility on routings.

We will be at Maho Beach in 2 weeks...can't wait!

We ended up taking taxis...I was tired that morning and hubby just wanted to get to the beach. We even took a cab from Mullet to Maho...the driver was going to pick someone up at Maho who had telephoned him...he was sitting at the food/drink place in 'Mullet and saw us leaving..He ask if we wanted a ride to Maho...we said oh we will just walk..and he said, No charge, I am going there anyway...we gave him five bucks when we got there and thanked him profusely..he said, I said no charge..and we were like well, consider it a tip....he was very very nice and later when we were ready to leave Maho, there he was...we took his cab back and he dropped us righT near a very inexpensive liquor store where we grabbed some gifts before we went back to the ship via the water taxi.
