Are sneakers required in the gyms on NCL?

My husband needs to use a stationary bike and uses his Crocs for this at his rehab center. Does anyone know if sneakers (trainers, tennis shoes...) are necessary in the workout rooms on the ships? We'll be on the Jewel. Thanks in advance for any responses.
