shasi Posted September 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Hi everyone Never posted before but so please bare with me. Got an offer from Norwegian (Casino's at Sea) for a cruise and a slot tournament. Has anyone else ever gotten one of these? I'm a little concerned leaving out of NY in November and they only offer two sailings both in November. Has anyone done this before and if so how was it? Thanks for reading Shasi
cliffd64 Posted September 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Hi everyone Never posted before but so please bare with me. I'm a little concerned leaving out of NY in November and they only offer two sailings both in November. Has anyone done this before and if so how was it? Thanks for reading Shasi I've left New York in November as well as December, and there is no way to predict what the weather in the Atlantic will be like. Sometimes it can be smooth as glass all the way down to the Caribbean, other times it can be really rough if there is a storm in the area. Chance are it will be something in between :) If you are prone to being seasick, take precautions against it and you'll be fine. This would mean start taking dramamine or bonine the day before you get on the ship and each day while you are on the ship. Good luck! Hope you have very pleasant weather. spidybabe Posted September 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2014 (edited) Have use the CAS or land based certificate many times. It is a great deal. Can never predict how the seas will be. We have sailed mostly in Jan and have had great seas and weather...Some others have bad seas in june/july. You should receive drinks cards (for drinks in the casino) priority boarding, and a casino cocktail party. Book it and have a great time. We got the offer also, but can't take a week off in nov. We use the generic bonine they give out at guest services, no problems. ..and we drink while taking it. Pretzels and green apples help aldo (you will find them all over the ship) Safe sailing Edited September 12, 2014 by spidybabe
khaide612 Posted September 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2014 Agree with above that you can't predict the seas or weather but if you are worried about seasickness there are ways to combat it. The Casinos at Seas ("CAS") comped part is easy - call & you will have to pay taxes & fees (& any amount if you want to upgrade to a higher category stateroom). You will get a card giving you free drinks in the casino. They sometimes have the CAS cocktail party and sometimes they don't. (We've been told it depends on how many CAS passengers are onboard a particular sailing.) Since this is a special slot tournament cruise you would probably get a cocktail party. In May they invited us to a casino cocktail party at the "SOME NAME" bar. We couldn't find the bar & asked around and then were finally directed to the bar in the casino where we were offered rum punch. Guess that is better than my Christmas cruise where we had nothing. garycarla Posted September 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 12, 2014 They sail out of there all winter. And yes, they have had snow on the deck. But, they keep filling up the ship and doing okay. November would be better than January in my book.
NMLady Posted September 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2014 We received that same offer and would love to accept it. But by the time we pay for airfare from southwest area of US as well as hotel in NY plus the cruise fees and daily Service Charge ('gratuities') we'd be better off doing a slot tournament at a Harrah's closer to home, or an NCL cruise from Houston.
