clmom Posted September 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2014  We will be sailing on the Sapphire Princess, Grand Asia itinerary in October. We were looking at the new deck plans and don't see the Sterling Steak House. Was is removed in the remodel for the move to the Asian market or did we somehow miss it on the deck plans? This posting caught my eye since we will also be on the Sapphire in January. The Princess website is showing Sterling Steak House on the Lido deck. Is this the setup where they have the steak house in a designated area of the Horizon Court?

Astro Flyer Posted September 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Thanks. Will this sushi venue continue on the upcoming Asia cruises? It shows available from 11:00 AM until midnight: Kai Sushi Restaurant Diamond, Sun Princess http://www.princess.com/learn/onboard/food_dining/Dining_Options_2014.pdf http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/Onboard_Experience/KaiSushi_DI_SP_SampleMenu2014.pdf

However, I don't see Sapphire listed. Does that mean that Kai Sushi is no longer in the Internet Cafe?
Astro Flyer Posted September 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2014 OK, thanks. However, I don't see Sapphire listed. Does that mean that Kai Sushi is no longer in the Internet Cafe? Correct, the Sapphire does not have a Kai Sushi in the large internet café area & don't think they ever had it...only the Diamond & the Sun. Sterling's Steakhouse is located in a separate section of the Horizon Court buffet area.
Rare hammo Posted April 17, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2015 Is the Sterlings Steakhouse separate from Horizon Court I.E its own separate room or just a section within the area? ( if that makes any sense ?)
Colo Cruiser Posted April 17, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2015 Is the Sterlings Steakhouse separate from Horizon Court I.E its own separate room or just a section within the area? ( if that makes any sense ?) Yes its a roped off area of the HC. They close off an aft section.
IECalCruiser Posted April 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 18, 2015 Is the Sterlings Steakhouse separate from Horizon Court I.E its own separate room or just a section within the area? ( if that makes any sense ?)The back sections of the a Horizon Court have doors that separate those areas from the forward sections and each side is separate. The Sterling Steakhouse uses the aft starboard side of the Horizon Court and is separated by a wall and the entrance doors from any part of the rest of the HC. There is a hostess station at the door. The decor is not as fancy as the Crown Grill but it is a separate environment for the evening.
Skai Posted April 18, 2015 #11 Share Posted April 18, 2015 (edited) To be honest -- The atmosphere, ambience or whatever one wants to call it is pretty lacking in the Sterling Steakhouse set-up on the Sapphire. While there are the white tableclothes and upgraded tableware, there are only a handful of window tables available and the HC decor leaves a little to be desired for what is an attempt at finer dining to say the least. Having eaten at the Sterling Steakhouse on the previous Royal Princess(R-Class) and having probably the best meal to-date on a Princess ship, I would have to state that the experience on the Sapphire was night and day in comparison. As an aside, we've also eaten at the Crown grill on other Grand class ships and the experiences have been consistent and good. Of course it was just a one-time experience eating at Sterling Steakhouse on the Sapphire, and by no means was the experience horrible. Perhaps it was just an off night(?), but the MDR seemed more 'fine dining' than the specialty restaurant in this case. Yes I agree, its a little lame. I think its run its course and they should have either put in a CG or got rid of it. :( Edited April 18, 2015 by Colo Cruiser
