QTPieRye Posted September 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Despite my search, I couldn't find a direct answer to my question, so here it goes: For our upcoming 5 Night, we are thinking of buying the Cheer's Program, if possible on Day 2. Plan on having carried on wine the first night. With that said, will the price be $42.50 x 4 days = $170.00 + 15% gratuity? OR will they still charge $42.50 x 5 days $212.50 + 15% gratuity on Day 2 Thanks in advance.
JLee1973 Posted September 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2014 If you still can buy on second day it will only be fire the for days. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Lovefuninthesun Posted September 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 24, 2014 You will only be charged for 4 days if you buy it on Day 2. So, you will pay the conventional a la carte price per drink for any drinks purchased on Day 1.
QTPieRye Posted September 24, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted September 24, 2014 Thanks.... with regard to the Match Play and the Cheer's Program or any other drink I purchase a la carte... I just take the receipt to the casino cage and they give me a $5.00 match play voucher of some sort?

I just take the receipt to the casino cage and they give me a $5.00 match play voucher of some sort? Make sure you ask for a receipt for a Classic Cocktail (Mai Tai, Long Island Ice Tea, Ultimate Margarita, Mojito, Cruise, or Sex on the Beach) The casino won't accept a receipt that says "Duplicate Copy" at the top, so you need the original, and give the duplicate copy back to your server. Take the receipt (or 5, 10, or 20 of them) to the casino cashier. They will give you a match play card. Sit at your favorite table game. Match Play coupons are good for any even money bet (blackjack, pass line in craps, red/black odd/even in roulette, etc.) Place the match play under your bet, and if you win, you will be paid $5 for the match play. threedjmay Posted September 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 25, 2014 I e-mailed John Heald, and got a conflicting answer. His direct answer via email is [Thank you for contacting us.* We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance. With the Cheers program you have to purchase it for every day of the cruise, the only exception would be if you were leaving out of Galveston Texas because of their alcohol laws. Thank you*for choosing Carnival.** * Sincerely, * The Beards * [/i]

That & Galveston are the onky exceptions that I know.
threedjmay Posted September 25, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 25, 2014 I specifically asked if I was to purchase the Cheers on Day 2 if I would be charged for the entire 7 Day cruise, or just 6 of the 7 days. It does go against what some have said here, but I don't know when these changes have occurred. I leave for the Dream out of NOLA on Oct 12, so I am also figuring out what to do myself. I'd like to get on day 2 as well.
JLee1973 Posted September 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 25, 2014 (edited) If you read the new policy since the price change it no longer states purchase on first or second day Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk Edited September 25, 2014 by JLee1973
threedjmay Posted September 25, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 25, 2014 I think the question though is, do they pro-rate the fee for the day you purchase, for instance, I was asking if I had to pay the entire amount if I purchased on day 2 of a 7 day cruise, and JH's answer to me was "Yes"

Bookbug53 Posted September 25, 2014 #13 Share Posted September 25, 2014 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2104697&page=3 This thread, post 57. The back page of the Fun Times, day 2. Yes you can buy day 2. They only charge for days you use. Buying for all days means you cannot pick and choose individual days to have it. The only day you can skip is day 1. LadyDAC Posted September 25, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 25, 2014 When we purchased it in July 2013 you could buy it on Day 2 but you still paid for all days. However, all drinks purchased on Day 1 were retroactively covered by Cheers. The only thing extra you had to pay was the taxes on drinks bought while still in port. threedjmay Posted September 25, 2014 #21 Share Posted September 25, 2014 Fyi, JH followed up with me and said. "This prorating only happens if the program is purchased out of Galveston Texas. There are not exceptions to the price or prorating if purchased out of the New Orleans port." Maybe YMMV, but I'm not taking the chance and will get Cheers on the first day, otherwise I paid $70+ for a day without getting drinks.

I, for one, am totally at a loss as to why he keeps saying this when the collective personal experience of people actually purchasing the program is totally different. The program is available on the second day (not just from Galveston) and they do not go back in time and attempt to assess a price on a day you did not use. Anyone have any ideas?:confused: FYI, I also purchase day 1. I am on vacation as soon as I board. :D Edited September 26, 2014 by Bookbug53
