janetcbl Posted October 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2014 What are some suggestions for tipping for special services? For example, dining in your cabin? Any other special circumstances?
Rare Scrapnana Posted October 1, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2014 As a solo traveler, I tip $3 for room service.
Dcoy Posted October 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I too was a solo traveler and only had breakfast delivered from room service. Usually tipped $2. Don
fantasy51 Posted October 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2014 Scrapnana and Dcoy, do you mean you tipped EVERY time room service came to you? If so, that's about as much as a cabin steward gets for servicing my cabin for the whole day. Imagine how many rooms that room service can visit in a day. If we all did that, they'd make a fortune. I've never known what to do about room service.
brigittetom Posted October 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2014 I always tip $2. per visit. Mainly because they are always so nice and seem to really appreciate the tip. I only order in a few times each trip and bring an envelope of 1 dollar bills to keep in the nightstand.

electra2008 Posted October 3, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 3, 2014 I too was a solo traveler and only had breakfast delivered from room service. Usually tipped $2. Don I had loads of OBC and tried many times to sign the slip to offload some of it, for the whole RS crew and each time was told no by the steward. I agree with the person who says thats all the guy/girl who cleans my toilet gets, in so many words, so I dont tip for RS
We2Cruzers Posted October 3, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 3, 2014 I generally give $2.00 for room service delivery. Don't use it often, maybe once or twice a trip, but do appreciate the service and feel that I like to share a small tip to show my appreciation for the delivery to my cabin. I usually have breakfast delivered around 6 and made changes to the preprinted menu. The tip was always appreciated. Don
fantasy51 Posted October 3, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 3, 2014 I use room service once or twice a day. That would really add up over the course of a cruise. It could also mean I'd be paying about double per day what my room steward gets. That doesn't seem right. I think on my next cruise I'll have a word at the purser's desk and see what the situation is, and if it's covered by auto tips, or if I can leave a shared amount in one hit. Sauer-kraut Posted October 3, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 3, 2014 I tip $1 per tray ordered. I give the steward $20 at the end of a 7-day cruise on top of the standard service charge.
