Belle Posted October 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Now is the time To get off the scale and dine What do you have on your plate Do you eat real early or late Portion control and eating breakfast is the best That's what they say on a dieting test I think what you eat is very important each week Veggies, fruit and protein better than desserts we seek Exercise in the morning, evening or not at all If none.. are you waiting for a cute trainer to call Do you drink water all day Or coffee that you have to pay So Good Food, Exercise and Water is what we need PS Thank you all for the kind thoughts..trying my best in taking care of my husband and my mother. Didn't think this is what I would be doing at this time in my life. So everyone enjoy your life to the fullest NOW! Never know what can happen. Thanks again for being so nice in thinking of me. Jan_In_Maine Posted October 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Belle - Thanks for the poem - I do understand a little, at 62 I'm thinking about retiring, but we have my MIL and her problems (she's 88) (her 4 other children live very far away) she has broke two hips so far this year ... one has rod and lots of pins, doesn't always know anyone's name, has learned to yell and swear, can't always dress or feed herself, etc. DH is with her mornings, late afternoons, all weekend and gets calls at night ... thought we'd have a life after kids. DH is self employed, so hours are down and this is taking such a toll on him that I'm really worried that his mom will outlive him. Belle - I truly feel for you - hope that things improve ... It is nice to be able to come here and talk with others .... hugs to you and I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Now to weight loss ---- Today I am down 2.2#, I'll take it .... but I'm still up almost 15# from where I was at the beginning of the year .... I'll keep plugging away ... wish there was a magic solution! Jan
perkyblue Posted October 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Thanks for the poem Belle! I'm so sorry for what both of you are going through with your family. :( Jan - I had the exact same result this week -- I'm down 2.2! My husband was out of town most of the week on a business trip, and I'm always able to lose weight more easily when all the meal planning & food buying is up to me. I have willpower at the store, but when he's right next to me with wine & chocolate, it's so hard to resist! Next week will for sure be a gain for me because we'll be in Vegas!! :D I don't know why I'm so excited for this trip. I guess because it was so unexpected, and although I obviously adore my kids, this will be our first trip without them in a year & a half. I'm ready for a mommy-break and a little adult time! Good luck to everyone else this week!
shootr Posted October 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Hang strong Belle, if nothing else, we're here with an open ear and an open heart to lean on whenever you need. I'll join the -2 club too, down 2lbs to 188. I got 38 miles on the bike, and approx. 450 steps (900 if you count going back down) in the mines this week (3 times up and down a 12 story copper ore crushing/processing mill) - that and I eat better when solo too - I pack my lunches and frozen water bottles and resist the mini-mart urges. After almost 900 miles of windshield time - I'm ready for a weekend with the Mrs on a trail somewhere... (I passed several long distance bikers riding through the desert while driving - so jealous!!!) See the rest of you soon!!!

perkyblue Posted October 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) HI all! perkyblue ~ have a ball in Las Vegas! Always nice to get away without the kiddos & get some couple time. I see you're going back to Germany on your Avalon cruise. Are you from there? ~ Jo ~ :) Sort of. Are you? I'm an Air Force brat and my dad was stationed in Germany. I lived there for three years when I was 10-13 years old. I loved it there and am so excited to finally be going back! I've been taking German lessons trying to relearn as much of the language as I can. I've gotten to the point that I can understand most of what is said to me. When I hear the words, I remember what they mean, but coming up with the right words to respond on my own is the hard part, especially because I'm always torn between just speaking however the words happen to come out and actually trying to think and choose the grammatically correct word endings. German is so hard! Congrats on your 2-lb. loss! Edited October 9, 2014 by perkyblue
retiring soon Posted October 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2014 HI again! Diana ~ Bon Voyage & have a great cruise! Darci ~ No, I'm not German but DH is. He was born in Hannover. My DMIL visited us sometimes for months at a time so I had to learn some German . On my last cruise I met a few German speakers & they seemed to understand me. One lady at the buffet asked me what cauliflower was in German & I knew it was blumenkohl. That'll be really nice for you to go back there. Auf wiedersehen.;) ~ Jo ~ :)

shootr Posted October 12, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 12, 2014 We bought a teardrop yesterday!!! Now to find a weekend to get out of town and get some REAL hiking in! Got 18 miles on the bike yesterday morning to start the day, then after bringing the trailer home I worked on it last night and this morning - so we'll count that as exercise too. Who's doing something good this weekend?

retiring soon Posted October 13, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2014 HI all! Congratulations on your grandson Jan & your new teardrop, shootr. What a thrill for you to be there Jan, is he your 1st grandchild? Have a nice holiday weekend, it's Thanksgiving here so had our little turkey breast yesterday & met our DD & SIL for chicken after a nice drive in the country today. I was so looking forward to pumpkin pie but they didn't have any.:( Stopped & picked a pie up on the way home but it wasn't worth the calories. ~ Jo ~ :)
shootr Posted October 13, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Grand babies! Congratulations to you and the family! My first one turned 1 last month, and just found out #2 is on the way. My wife's a labor/delivery nurse and loves every minute of her job. (I just like 'em after they're cleaned and polished :-).

shootr Posted October 15, 2014 #18 Share Posted October 15, 2014 Had to get out of the house after a good dinner of my hot dogs wrapped in corn tortillas (90 calories each!) before I started snacking. Wandering the thrift shop I found some glasses for the new camper (and a shirt from a burial vault manufacturer)! 4 bucks total and zero calories!
