Certificate for transiting the Canal?

Just curious if you get any kind of a certificate for transiting the canal when you do it by excursion, e.g., you are on a partial transit cruise and take the small ferry boat from Gatun Lake all the way to the Pacific. It seems like probably not, as part of the way is by bus. Is that correct?

That would be up to your cruise line, particularly for a full transit. Having done both partials and fulls, on different cruise lines, never have received any certificate. Lots of memories, tho.

Likely not but as CruiserBruce correctly notes it would depend how your Cruise Line handles this.

Not to worry ... all taken care of. The cruise line sends the passenger list to the Canal and immigration authorities long before you get there. Just relax and enjoy!! Regards, Richard

We did NOT receive a certificate on our last two full transits like we did on our earlier ones.

We are just of the Jewel and we did receive a certificate from NCL with our names, date, ship etc. Custom rubber stamped by the captain :p

I received a certificate for my full transit on Cunard's Queen Victoria this April.

We received certificates from the small boat operator that took us on through the canal to the Pacific ocean. We were on a partial transit.

We also got a certificate with Celebrity Cruises. It had the name, date, ship name, sign of captain and cabin no on it. Every person got a own certificate.

Probably doesn't help but I received a steering certificate after my first transit in 1975. As a pax (6 cruises), DW thinks we received 1 certificate delivered to the cabin.

If you haven't already done so, a good place to ask would be over in the NCL forum.  (BTW, we did get one in early 2017 on the NCL Jewel.)

We did full transit on NCL last month. Each person in each of our cabins got a certificate. here is an example.
