Wer2pats Posted August 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2005 As gas prices continue to rise here in our area, we were wondering what the average price is in Honolulu. We will be renting a car during our trip in September. Gas in Florida is about $2.60/gal last time I checked. Pat
Hawaiian Eye Posted August 18, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2005 About the same on Oahu but a bit higher on the Outer Islands.
Middleager Posted August 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2005 They pay $.05/gallon in Iraq. But you have to watch where you drive, where you park, where you walk, where you eat, where you sleep... "Watching" is not enough... I'll pay the $3/g in Hawaii. jjduck Posted August 19, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2005 Price of regular gas at Costco was $2.47 yesterday (Aug 17th). If you're a member, bring your card, maybe you'll get lucky! (yes, the price will more than likely increase, but you'll be in a beautiful city. ;) ) Aloha, Noreen.
pbinn Posted August 27, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2005 I heard something on the news about a price freeze on gas in hawaii. what exactly does that mean, and how much is it a gallong now?
Ka Honu Posted August 27, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 27, 2005 High Test is around $2.95 - $3.00 right now (on Oahu - not counting military bases and Costco). We have a new "gas cap" law going into effect on September 1st which essentially ties wholesale gas prices to mainland prices unless the governor intervenes for reasons specified in the law. The fear right now is that the formula will allow those prices to go even higher than they are now. Of course, the cap is on wholesale prices; we can still be gouged at the pump even if the wholesale price flattens or decreases. Everyone pays the "price of paradise." Better hope they don't tie it to CA prices. We're running well over $3 for high-test right now--and that's likely to increase, not decrease. (I don't know how it relates to the wholesale price.) It's one of the little ironies that comes from living in an oil-producing, oil-refining state. Sigh. beachchick
beachin' Posted September 6, 2005 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2005 High-test in NY was running close to $4/gallon two days ago  ! Luckily, when we were in Hawaii in August, our Hertz corporate rate allowed us to have Hertz refuel at the corporate contracted rate of $2.20/gallon. Middleager Posted September 8, 2005 #9 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Gas prices in Hawaii were not bad. On Aug. 22-24, in Oahu they were around $2.7. We were then on the NCL Wind cruise for 10 days and were in many ports, during which time Katrina hit and CNN reported reported US mainland prices >$4 in some places. But in the Hawaii islands they were around $3 range, most was in Maui at $3.24. Back in Oahu on Sept. 3-4 and drove all over Oahu. The prices were around $2.95 most places. Arlenedow Posted September 8, 2005 #11 Share Posted September 8, 2005 Spleen, I see that you live in Ewa Beach. We were so happy that the boys won the International title. What an exciting game!! We were rooting for them since they beat our Maitland, Fl. team. We lived in Maitland and now live in the next town. Gas here is $3.09 - $3.19 for premium and $2.89 -$3.09 for regular. This is the Orlando area. Arlenedow
spleen93 Posted September 9, 2005 #12 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Arlene - we're all very proud of them. Had a big celebration when they came home and they're going to be getting a parade (had to postpone it because too many people wanted to participate!)
