funinthesun1964 Posted November 12, 2014 Author #153 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Last Sea Day, Last Cruise Day. Boooo! The last day is a little sad. I know the cruise is coming to an end, and I want to have the best day possible. I look outside, and the sun in shining! That's a plus! Here are the Fun Times for Saturday, Sea day. funinthesun1964 Posted November 13, 2014 Author #154 Share Posted November 13, 2014 We went to the MDR for the brunch, and enjoyed breakfast there. It's nice not to have everyone running around getting what they want to eat, and then trying to find a table, some eating earlier than others, etc. We had fair-to-good service this time. I had plenty of refills of coffee, which is just fine with me. We went to find our pictures at pixels, and made our purchases. I purchased our bathrobe picture and left the other two that were taken for others to enjoy. Finally, we made it out to enjoy the sunshine. We found a space just above the aft lido bar, again. We enjoyed time there. I had a couple of drinks while outside, and went to get some pizza for lunch and brought back to my lounger to eat. When we felt like lobsters, we headed down to deck nine and went to the Blue Iguana for a drink. While Wendy and I were at the bar ordering, our husbands were on the outer edge of the bar, closer to the pool. Well, guess what? They were selected to enter a contest: The men vs. women's synchronized swimming! HAHA Note: I tried to get pictures the best I could, but folks kept just getting right in front of me as I attempted to point and shoot! So look for DH! He's at the right of the pool edge in this one: And he's right in the middle in this one! I'd like to thank the lady who came and stood right in front of me while I was taking this picture! haha! And the men won in this contest, do DH proudly received another medal. We are starting to get quite a collection of these in our house. As a side note, we have not won any more SOS because we have been pretty much staying away from the trivia games. After the medal was won, we stayed at the BI to finish our drinks and then we headed back to our cabins for our showers. What a fun afternoon it turned out to be! In the elevator, headed down to deck 2.
funinthesun1964 Posted November 13, 2014 Author #155 Share Posted November 13, 2014 Well maybe we didn't go to deck 2, because the time stamp on these pictures proves that we were on deck 5! The java shop: Artwork
funinthesun1964 Posted November 13, 2014 Author #156 Share Posted November 13, 2014 Before dinner, we went to Alchemy Bar and saw Inga one last time. The Deal Closer hit the spot. We went for dinner for the "last supper" in the MDR. We had Obryan and his team and good service, thankfully. We listened to the farewell song, and said our goodbyes. We went back to our cabin to pack up most of our things. We do self assist, so we don't put the bags out. We just wanted to start packing and not procrastinate any longer. Our bed for one last night. After packing, we headed to Atrium Bar and saw Jane and Carlos. Jane had been especially friendly and provided good service to us this week, we gave her an extra tip. I could have went to bed when we were packing, but NO! I had to have fun on my last night of the cruise. We ended up at the piano bar and had a good time there. Mike says "Drink up, because the more you drink, the better I sound". LOL I don't think he drinks at all himself. We walked around to see if anything else was going on, but nothing too exciting that we noticed. I got hungry and went to Lido to get a hot dog around 11:30. We got to bed around midnight. funinthesun1964 Posted November 13, 2014 Author #157 Share Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) I woke up pretty early, around 6 or 6:30, couldn't go back to sleep. Looked outside and we were not docked, but close to it. Finally, I got up to get a shower and start putting more things away. After DH got up, I put even more things away and phoned our friends and met to go to Lido for breakfast. It was busy there, but not as quite as bad as I imagined it would be. We had the breakfast burrito at the Blue Iguana Cantina. By the time we were done and headed back to our cabin, they were calling for self assist on deck 2 already. We went to our cabin, gathered our things and went out in the hall to the stairs. By the time we got there, an announcement came on and said things were backing up in the terminal and they were going to hold passengers for a while, and please don't come to Deck 3 for now. Well we were already en route there and out of our cabins, so we went ahead and there was a line in the atrium lobby area. We waited about 15 minutes or so and the line started moving again. Mike the CD was out and about and saying goodbye to everyone. We didn't have to wait much through customs and were outside and had a taxi, at the airport, through security and waiting for our flight. We had an 11:15 flight and had plenty of time. We didn't rush either. It was a very fun cruise. Conquest was not my favorite ship, although I do love the Conquest-class ships. Out of the ships I've sailed, Liberty is my favorite with Freedom being #2. Before I sailed, I had read a lot of comments about Conquest showing "wear and tear". I did notice some of this, but really no more than the other ships. Same cleaning going on, routine maintenance, etc. However, I did feel that some things were disorganized, MDR service being one. Nothing major though, still an enjoyable cruise. One thing that did impress me was the warm towels when we boarded from a very rainy Costa Maya walk back to the ship. That was a nice touch. I did the email survey, which I received about one week later. I gave my honest opinions, and expressed my disappointment in the dining room service the first couple of nights. I also recognized a few on the ship for their outstanding service. A couple of days later, Carnival followed up with a phone call, but it went to my husband's cell phone. They questioned him; he later told me that he also told them about the poor dining room service. They told him they were going to email me another very short survey, and if I completed that I was get $25 pp on board credit for my next cruise. I completed the email survey, it was very short. I have to remember to redeem that gift card a couple of weeks before my next cruise. Frankly, I was surprised that they did follow up. I never really thought they read those comments on the surveys? Next cruise is Liberty again. I am looking forward to a second time around. Bye for now and happy cruising, Brenda Edited November 13, 2014 by funinthesun1964
