Queen Victoria Med September 2015

We are going on the 19th September out of Rome for 14 nights and just wondering how quickly or not Med cruises tend to fill? Should we hold off and see if better deals come along or do we jump in now? Looking at a balcony cabin. Also, anyone have info on "single cabins" on QV as my father will be coming along too, I thought I saw it mentioned on an earlier thread?

thanks

There has been some talk of QV getting the solo staterooms like QE but I don't know if that is official or not. However, in the cruises I have priced, the solo staterooms have been the same price (at least once I've seen them more) as the regular cabins with the solo supplement. The regular cabins are larger than the solos.

You know what, we've just returned from another 17 day cruise to the Med and Adriatic. Over the years I have acquired one TA who gets me excellent deals (better than Cunard's own quoted prices by a long mile) I booked it a year previously, I was happy with the price, I chose our stateroom and dining time. I never once looked at prices for the cruise after that - no point, I was happy.

Today. I booked a 14 day cruise on the QE for next October with our great TA. Happy with the price. chose our stateroom and dining preference - job done. Not interested in anything else relative to the cruise from hereon.

For years I have witnessed contributors tormenting themselves over upgrades, price reductions etc and on the ship having detailed discussions on these two facets of their booking. Each to their own as they say, but for me, the process is easy, (a) a good and trustworthy TA, (b) accept a cruise that you can afford © sit back and anticipate your next cruise......

Thanks for your answer Scrapnana, will look into it some more but may have to stay with cabin and supplement for him.

Dajo5601, congratulations on finding a great TA, please pass on their details. I did go to a few TA's, and if I can prove the price of an overseas acquired price, they will beat it by $1, that is about ohh I dont know 55 pence.!!!!!!

Also, we tend to do our own bookings. Not tormenting myself over upgrades, price reductions, just a simple question really, we can afford it, but why throw away hard earned money when one doesnt need to. If they tend to fill quickly then I have no problem booking it, but if in the past they dont, why not wait???????

I am always astonished about some of the replies to questions people pose and this has been no different............. thanks

When we were on board QV recently I asked how quickly different cruises filled up. I was told that the fly cruises to the med are less popular and fill slower than those which start and finish in Southampton.

That is interesting to know. So it doesn't make sense that they have the QE in the Med most of this year and the QV in the Med most of next year.

It probably does to Cunard because the costs of running these cruises is less than Soton. To Soton, though the lower fuel costs now reduce the savings a little.

QE was certainly full on our cruise in September.

The market in Soton may only be able to sustain 2 Cunard ships so profitability may be better by deploying a vessel elsewhere even if bookings are slower to achieve.
