Luv my furbaby Posted November 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2014 What is the best time of year to do this cruise? Is it worth it to do the pre-cruise to Pearl Harbor Or do it on your own?
cb at sea Posted November 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 14, 2014 The weather in Hawaii is about the same year round....humpback whales are there in the winter months, so if you want to have the possibility of seeing them, you don't want to go in the summer! mugtech Posted November 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2014 Pearl Harbor is easy to do on your own, check out the Missouri and the Arizona.

You need to get to Pearl Harbour as early as you can. The queues start at around 7.00am
punkincc Posted November 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2014 What is the best time of year to do this cruise? Is it worth it to do the pre-cruise to Pearl Harbor Or do it on your own? Whales are there in Jan Feb and March. A little more rain some months. You can just google the average temps, etc. We were there is August. Beautiful weather, no rain. We booked a Pearl Harbor tour with Roberts Hawaii for the am of the cruise. They take care of the tickets. Pick up at the hotel. Our drop off was back at the hotel but you might find one willing to drop you at the ship.
Rare Manbo Posted November 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 15, 2014 We did the PoA in Oct. 2013. Awesome! Pearl Harbor has timed tickets, we went on the website and got them ahead of time. We stayed a few extra days before flying home and saw all those sites on our own. Super easy, rent a car with GPS. Make sure to visit the Military Cemetery of the Pacific and climb Diamond Head. Susie51 Posted November 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 15, 2014 I was in Hawaii in March on a cruise. In Maui there were hundreds of whales. A lot of the whales traveled in sets of three, the momma, baby and escort. We saw lots of breeching and whales' tails. Enjoy your cruise.
