jaceyar Posted November 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2014 Can you not borrow a smartphone? There's wifi a plenty in most ports and you could speak for free via apps like Viber or Skype.

Thanks Have you thought about Skype, most android phones will allow you to add App which is free, just need to add your contacts before you depart Most of the Caribbean ports offer free wifi in the cruise terminal, if not Find a bar and make a purchase and they will give you their internet code. Skype is free for you and receiver :) On Skype you can either video chat or just use it without screen similar to A landline call Mrs Blue Sky

davecttr Posted November 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 18, 2014 I have a simple mobile that won't work in the caribbean, not enough bands or something. I costed out buying a new one and because I was only making a few short calls it turned out just as cheap to use the phone in the cabin :)
Morgans Posted November 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2014 It isn't too expensive to buy a phone that will work from the Caribbean - you don't need an expensive I phone to do so. Your nearest phone shop will advise. We bought a cheapie that worked with our SIM for about £30 . It's worth enquiring at your local shop.

Bacardi.. Posted November 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2014 What about the good old fashioned pay phone. Surely that is the cheapest way to call home, calling from the ship would be expensive, so if you are on land just use that.
