Just booked this while onboard the Whisper last week. They had just released this special. All cabins are 50% off of fare adn 60% for Venetian Society. We also saved an additional 5% for booking onboard. Our Vista Suite came to $1722 for this 7 night cruise on the Whisper.

 

It is Athens, a day at sea, Malta, a day at sea, Palma De Mallorca, a day at sea, Cadiz, Spain, and then Lisbon.

 

Was too good of a deal to pass up.

We almost booked this voyage two weeks ago, but due to the Olympics we decided the logistics were a nightmare! Closing ceremonies are on 8/29 and you cannot get any hotels in Athens for anytime frame prior to 8/30. The ship is on charter until 8/30 and on charter out of Lisbon 7 days later. Silversea can only offer this cruise as a 7 night cruise.

 

BUT - the cruise price is great! My problem was that you would see very little of Europe- the ports that you will see are not that great with the exception of Lisbon-plus air is really high. For us it was a really expensive trip to Lisbon with a 7 night cruise.

 

Try spending the previous night in London and fly to Athens the morning of the 30th (that is all that Silversea can offer their air/sea guests). The only problem is that you will miss Athens.

jmm, we thought of that. We have airmiles that we will be using. We are flying into Zurich a couple of days before sailing and heading to Athens the morning of the cruise. We would never do a flight with connections the day of, but this seemed like a good option. On the back end we will spend some time in Lisbon, then head to London and spend some time before jetting back home to DFW.

 

Have been to Malta before, but loved it. Never been to Palma de Mallorca, Cadiz, or Lisbon, so we are looking forward to checking them out.

 

We plan on picking up Athens on a future cruise.

That is great it is working out for you! We had a group that wanted to go with us but the logistics were a nightmare (with the Olympics). Hotels wanted for one night what Silversea was charging for a 7 night cruise!

 

Silversea is expecting lots of UK cruisers for this trip!

hey there cruisinsince75, it looks like you've changed plans. I guess you will not meet my friends on the Diamond after all?

No, that may still happen. We were thinking about changing, but this one is becoming a real hassle. No rooms in Athens, but I knew that. However using airmiles is making it awfully difficult. The best we have found so far is American to Zurich with a couple of stops including a 6 hour layover at JFK. Then the only flight out of Zurich on Swiss puts us in at 6:40pm the day of the cruise and the ship leaves at 11pm. Not a real good option.

 

The return is just about as bad out of Lisbon. We fly to London Heathrow, have a long layover and then have two connections on the way back to DFW.

 

The Diamond does have a better itinerary and the flights are no problem. So we will probably be sticking with our original plan afterall. Really loved the Silver Whisper though.
