Rare aggie182 Posted December 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2014 What is your favorite interior or obstructed oceanview room on the Caribbean Princess? L104 looks to be a bit larger than some of the other obstructed view rooms. Are there any interior rooms that are better than other interiors? How about regular oceanview rooms, are any better than the others? Thanks!
rdsqrl Posted December 11, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I believe it is larger, and another plus: the bed is on the side wall, not under the windows (I like to see out the window when in bed and like to be able to stand at the window looking out). However, during the day, there can be people on that open deck right outside the window, so if that'll bother you . . . . Insides: Many people like the insides that are "sideways," for example, R507. Their layout is different than the other-oriented insides (look at the deck plan and you'll see what I mean; it's hard to describe! http://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=CB) and that different layout gives you a few extra feet of cabin space. This thread has photos: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1314375 Outsides: I book by view and this site is invaluable for finding the best unobstructed obstructed views: https://sites.google.com/site/caribbeanemeralddeck/ With respect to the unobstructed oceanviews, I'd avoid the very first handful on Plaza deck: I've heard these are smaller due to the curve of the bow. VERY IMPORTANT CAVEAT: The most important thing to keep in mind with respect to insides and oceanviews is that if you book a cabin that accommodates a 3rd or 4th passenger, the extra bunks are mounted on the side walls. Even when closed up, they stick out about a foot and can be a hazard to navigation around the bed. You'll want to check your cabin choice against the deck plan: click on the deck plan I linked to to show you the sideways cabins. You'll see a box next to the word "Passengers" - input 3 or 4 and cabins with those dreaded extra bunks will appear in colour; the rest will white-out. You can then click deck by deck to check Lido, Emerald, Plaza, etc. Hope this helps.
Rare aggie182 Posted December 11, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks for the info. I am looking at a cruise a good ways out so there is a lot of availability right now. I am kind of between L104 and R750, both because of the quick access to the outside areas. I have also looked at the website showing the views from the other obstructed view rooms. It will be for 11 days. R750 has portholes where L104 has the window. I think the view from the portholes will be somewhat restricted from them being inset some and L104 is tagged as obstructed. R750 is $80 more per person. I have cruised in a suite and regular balcony on Carnival and insides both times on Princess. I am looking forward to it, whatever I decide. chrysalis Posted December 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Plaza Deck gets my vote.
Rare geoherb Posted December 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2014 I like the Plaza Deck for unobstructed ocean views and the Emerald Deck for obstructed views. My preference is for forward cabins since we like to go to the Oasis Pool in the afternoon and the show after dinner each evening. We hardly ever go to the Horizon Court or aft pool. Stevesan Posted December 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2014 What is your favorite interior or obstructed oceanview room on the Caribbean Princess? L104 looks to be a bit larger than some of the other obstructed view rooms. Are there any interior rooms that are better than other interiors? How about regular oceanview rooms, are any better than the others? Thanks! There are six large inside cabins on Riviera deck. They are easy to recognize. http://www.princess.com/deckPlans.do?shipCode=CB Here are some pix o the interiors: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1728255
