Nukesailor Posted August 24, 2005 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Just what we needed. I'm still repairing damage from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne last year! (We live in Palm Beach Gardens). On the positive side, the prediction right now is that by Saturday afternoon it should be mostly across Florida. When the ship leaves, it may just be a little rainy and windy. Probably a little rough in the ocean. Shouldn't be too bad. See you at the pool bar after muster drill? Good thing most of the drinks come with umbrellas!:D

vicocala Posted August 24, 2005 Author #21 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Nuke, I almost booked the Zuiderdam instead of Glory. But I think Miami and Fort Lauderdale will be in the clear by Saturday. Nukesailor Posted August 24, 2005 #22 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Vico, Don't worry, your family and house will be fine. It looks like it will be only a minimal hurricane when it comes ashore down by Ft. Lauderdale. By the time we get on the ship, it should have moved on and left some rain. They just posted southeast Florida from Vero Beach on down as a Hurricane Watch. That means for now nobody in the area can get homeowner's insurance. I know what you mean about the insurance premiums. Mine went up soon after Andrew in 1992. Now, it's more than 500% (yes, 5 times) higher than when I moved in in 1990.
