Amatique Bay -- best way to get there

Hello all! WOW, I can't believe I cannot locate recent information on CC about Amatique Bay. For anyone who's been there...let's say in the last year...can you tell me if there's an easy/safe way to get there via taxi? Or, is the ship's excursion the recommended way to go?

 

We're on HAL Ryndham in February and currently sorting out our excursions. We like to tour independently when possible, unless it's unsafe. Thanks!
