Mix-up on gift cards

My brother gave me a Carnival gift card for Xmas. However, I'm traveling on Princess in two weeks. I don't suppose there is any chance that a Carnival Gift card would work on Princess?

You can always call and ask but I would doubt it. Their FAQs says that it's redeemable only for or on Carnival. http://www.carnivalgiftcards.com/FAQ.aspx#how

Walmart just started a new program where they are trading gift cards for a walmart gift card. It's not 100% but who knows, it might be worth it if they take Carnival ones.

I'm wondering if they're the same issuer underneath. The way the FAQs for both programs are worded, I think they may be.

 

I think calling and being emphatic you don't want a refund, just a change to the Princess gift cards, you may get what you want.

There are Princess pax who are also going on a carnival cruise and perhaps you could work out a trade with them on a one for one basis.

The lines themselves are on separate accounting systems, so a Carnival card won't be able to be cross-honored onboard (they would have to transfer the funds between the lines, because of the parent relationship that's actually quite complicated. Plus, its not likely Princess would have access to that card database)

 

They MAY be able to arrange a swap of some kind (or just accept it as a courtesy for pre-purchased OBC or something) so never hurts tot ask.
