geovet Posted December 29, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2014 Once football season is over, do they have hockey games on TV? Thanks

YubaSutter Posted December 29, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2014 After football season is over, it's basketball, then baseball spring training starts.
gone_cruisin Posted December 29, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2014 At the ESPN bar on most ships they have every sport showing. If your ship doesn't have one, head to bar in the back of the ship on lido deck....there's one tv there (fantasy class ships).
poohnpals Posted December 29, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2014 We went two years ago during NHL playoffs and couldn't watch the games. Espn doesn't show hockey and I don't think Carnival carries the major hockey channels. We had to watch the scores scroll down the bottom.
lappy22 Posted December 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Unfortunately I've never seen hockey on a cruise ship. I don't think ESPN Deportes carries it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
amcjeep4life Posted December 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I have yet to catch a hockey game on any cruise. Makes me crazy that I am occasionally forced to have football playing, but no hockey to be found.
hockeyluver Posted December 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I have never seen a hockey game on any of the tv's including the sports bar. Even had the bartender flip through the channels on a Saturday night.....nothing!!! :(
RD3PO Posted December 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 30, 2014 You should be able to view the Saturday and/or Sunday games that air on NBC. Other than that, you will not find any of the games. If not on NBC, games are televised on regional networks (Comcast Sportsnet, Fox Regional, etc.) and those networks are not available on the ship. DirtyDawg Posted December 30, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) My son writes articles on the Red Wings for isportsweb .net for his internship. I make sure to get the internet package onboard for him just so he can keep informed on them (and get his articles out on time). He doesn't miss a game when we are at home. Good for your son. What a great experience for a writer and a hockey fan. For all the hockey fans out there sadly we can only keep up with the second best sport in the world via the internet on most cruise ships. :( Even sadder, there is far worse access to the best sport in the world - Curling! :(:( Edited December 30, 2014 by DirtyDawg
parisienneatheart Posted December 31, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 31, 2014 My husband watched it last year on NBC and is hoping to watch it again this year. It's the Winter classic outside game.
Rare nydney1 Posted December 31, 2014 #13 Share Posted December 31, 2014 I have never been able to watch a hockey game. Go Blackhawks.
cccer Posted December 31, 2014 #14 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Winter classic might be available to watch but you would probably have a better chance of getting beach soccer or cricket.
Payd Posted January 19, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 19, 2015 I agree with the last poster. In 20 cruises I have never seen a hockey game. More cricket games than I care to mention though . . . sad really:(
ccartman2 Posted January 19, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 19, 2015 I love hockey, but I would never be disappointed missing a regular season hockey game on a cruise, unless it is the last few days of the season and the playoffs were on. Even then....I'd would probably be okay with it because I am indeed cruising......Even playoffs, you may miss 2 games, 3 max. Still time to catch the rest, unless it is a conference or cup final. In fact, in the regular season, I probably wouldn't watch the game if I could, unless I couldn't do anything else.
thephillykid Posted January 19, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 19, 2015 NO hockey on the ship, maybe a good thing as I don't have to see the Flyers get shut out. My son is planning to watch the games on the tablet with the nhl app.
mayabean Posted January 19, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Last year on the Magic during the NHL playoffs I was told no, no hockey will be broadcasted and every tv in the bar had basketball......if I was lucky I could catch the score on the ticker on the bottom of the screen. Wasn't that big of a deal but with the playoffs you would think you could see something even if its not the most popular sport of the masses.....however I also realize that some sports stations just dont carry hockey games, unlike Canada where I can see all the games(i'm spoiled lol)
johnsose2 Posted January 19, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 19, 2015 The Stanley cup finals were on at the casino bar on the breeze last year. Go wings! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
SNJCruisers Posted January 19, 2015 #20 Share Posted January 19, 2015 The Stanley cup finals were on at the casino bar on the breeze last year. Go wings! Sent from my iPhone using Forums Those games shown were from the NBC feed. The only games you can see on a ship nowadays would be the Saturday or Sunday afternoon 1230 PM EST games, as was previously mentioned earlier in this thread around post 9. nissach Posted January 20, 2015 #21 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Unfortunately I've never seen hockey on a cruise ship. I don't think ESPN Deportes carries it. Sent from my iPad using Forums I agree! We are Canadians who love our hockey. Have never once seen an NHL game or World Juniors(we always travel over Christmas). When we have asked the bartender at the sports bar if he can find a hockey game, he usually looks at us strangely, like what?
geovet Posted January 20, 2015 Author #22 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I looked up the hockey schedule for the week of my cruise and found three games will be on NBC. I hope they will air on the ship.
SNJCruisers Posted January 20, 2015 #23 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I looked up the hockey schedule for the week of my cruise and found three games will be on NBC. I hope they will air on the ship. There's a NBC feed in your cabin and it can be brought up on any of the other tv's as well. The only reason would be if for some reason the affiliate of wherever the ship's NBC feed is from decides to preempt the game, but I believe they would be contractually obligated to show it.
