yoj13 Posted January 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2015 Dubrovnik - no. Corfu-no. Kushadasi - yes. Kotor- tender. In Dubrovnik, there are taxis virtually at the bottom of the gangplank Euro10 for 4 passengers 1 way. Corfu- free bus to the port gates and Public bus to the centre of corfu Euro1.50 pp Kushadasi ship is parked virtually in the town centre. Kotor tender to almost the centre. Celebrity provides a bus, usually $15 per person and never mention the alternative transport methods.!
Rare Cruise Junky Posted January 17, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2015 Depends on how fit you are for Dubrovnik. Friends of ours did walk it but it isn't that close.
R&M1000 Posted January 17, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2015 In Corfu you can walk to town. There's the free port bus that takes you from the ship to the port gate. From the port gate it's less that a mile to the fort, and just past the fort you can enter the town near the Jewish Synagogue.

sawyer_boy Posted January 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 18, 2015 We are a couple in are early thirties and have been to Dubrovnik three times, each time we walk from the port. It's about a 30-40 minute walk with some hills but the views are amazing. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Pushka Posted January 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 18, 2015 In Dubrovnik we grabbed a taxi for a 50 euro sightseeing tour for a few hours. This was excellent and he then dropped us at the Gate. Took a taxi back to Port. Corfu - easy walk into town. Kusadasi - right in the town. Kotor? Will find out in a couple of months.
porrah Posted January 18, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2015 The bus station was right outside where the Equinox docked, and also you can change money right there. It was easy to get the local bus to the old town.
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 18, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2015 If there are no other ships scheduled in Kotor, they might let you dock. We docked in 2012 on Nieuw Amsterdam. EM

dodger1964 Posted January 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 19, 2015 We are normally the ones that walk, when most don't, but we took the X bus in dubrovnik (it was raining off and on and bus only cost $10 each..i think it was $10, might have been $15??). Some did walk that day from talking to others that night, but not us. So walking is doable.
RickT Posted January 19, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 19, 2015 (edited) As others have said, some of the ports depend on how fit you are and what you personally consider a reasonable walk. If you are not fit or don't like walking I would not recommend trying in Dubrovnik or Corfu. Keep in mind the heat will also be an issue. My DW and I are in our early fifties and have walked to each (multiple times on multiple cruises). We are both fit and enjoy walking and other physical activity. Dubrovnik is the most difficult. It's about a 40-60 minute walk (depending on how quick you are) and is mostly uphill. The start of the walk and the end of the walk are quite enjoyable with interesting views, the middle is rather boring however. You'll definitely need to bring water and wear comfortable shoes. The walk back is all downhill and fairly easy. There is also a neat bar about 8 minutes outside the old town (Art Cafe) which is a decent place to stop for a drink and use their wifi. Corfu is the next most difficult. It's probably 20-30 minutes along a flat road. Not much endearing about the walk as the port on your left is fairly commercial. It's an easy walk however if you like walking. Kusadasi is pretty easy with the town/beach just to the left of the pier. A nice fort to the right along with a couple decent restaurants. Kotor is the easiest. The town is basically at the end of the tender pier. Edited January 19, 2015 by RickT
