MsFancyFree Posted January 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Due to a price drop, I've been able to change my booking on the Volendam from an H Category Partial Sea View on the Lower Promenade to a D Category Ocean View. This is for the North Pacific Crossing (Kobe to Vancouver) in April. My new stateroom is on the Dolphin Deck (room 1875). I'm told the location is better (more stable in rough seas since it is mid-ship), but I'm wondering about the window versus portholes. According to the deck plan, all of the D category rooms have portholes instead of windows. Does anyone know just how big (or small!) these portholes are? I had asked for the twin bed configuration since it would give me better access to the window (when I had one), but do you actually have a view with portholes? Any comments/information would be appreciated. Thanks!
catl331 Posted January 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2015 (edited) Only the G cabins (1804 to 1815 on the Dolphin deck) have portholes. In D1875 you will have a 2.5 ft by 3.5 ft window. http://www.hollandamerica.com/main/DeckPlansFull.action?ship=vo_2&deck=d&deep=0 Edited January 18, 2015 by catl331

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Volendam is the same class of ship as the Amsterdam. From HALfacts you can see the window here: http://halfacts.com/1870-amsterdam/
