ajee622 Posted January 23, 2015 Author #76 Share Posted January 23, 2015 the cabins in play are not spa cabins Yes they are cloud 9 spa balconies. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
keywest1 Posted January 23, 2015 #77 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Just curious if there is something noise-producing over or under the other cabin? If there wasn't, I would switch for free since the rooms are the same. Give me a hundred bucks and I'd let them look at the rooms and choose which one they want after we all board. :p
libbyonthelabel Posted January 23, 2015 #78 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I did a lot of research re: the cabin we booked for an upcoming cruise. I deliberately chose port side so that I can sit on the balcony and watch as we sail in/out of ports. Lots have commented that it is great to be able to do that (and this will be our first balcony cabin). I also deliberately chose to be under the Shore Excursion desk because those supposedly have little noise. Cabin side and location is important to me, and I paid the fare to get to choose (not for them to choose for me, which was markedly less). Whatever you decide, best wishes for a great vacation! Sent from my iPhone using Forums Thank you for saying this! This is exactly what I was thinking. Whenever I am on a cruise, there is always a more preferable side of the ship for me. And I put serious thought into what side when I have a choice. And speaking as someone who just booked a cruise for April 2016, I do a lot of planning and thought so moving would not be easy. And I don't think that would make me a jerk.

No thanks to that. Not sure if it would be an issue but also something to think about. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
tkportersat Posted January 23, 2015 #81 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Look, it is your prerogative to do what you want but obviously since you posted your scenario on here that leaves you open to opinions and criticism. I can understand wanting a certain room for your family and the bunk bed for your daughter and they are offering you the exact same room on the other side but you want more than $100 OBC and bottle of wine? Why? This whole I deserve something mentality that folks have these days is super discouraging. Either say no or take the offer, but bargaining for more for the exact same room is ridiculous. Hopefully after some thought you will see that. It's not like you have a corner AFT room on deck 8 and they are trying to move you to an inside on deck 1. I'm with some on here, I wouldn't want the bad joo joo of someone possibly messing with me once on board; there is a reason someone wants that room and it might be important, you have a chance to be a kind person - why is that so hard? Good luck on whatever you decide. So got a call stating that carnival would like to move our room because we have 3 people going (wife, daughter and I) and they are looking to accommodate a party of 4. Our room holds 4 as we requested because my daughter likes the bunk bed thing. We have a spa balcony. Anyone ever get a call like this?? They said we would get obc but honestly I'm not sure I would do it unless they offered me a lot. Not to sound like an ass but nothing under $700 is going to change my mind. njmomof2 Posted January 23, 2015 #85 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I may need to be booking three cabins on a future cruise. Because I would be bringing 3 unrelated minors with me, I'll need to have them either right next door or immediately across the hall from me. Because I travel with my mom, we book a balcony. So, these kids will either need one of the balconies next door or an inside across the hall. I'm also taking by 2 kids so they have a cabin. If, when I am ready to book (when all of the parents agree on the trip) then I'll start looking. I guess I'm worried that if I can find 2 cabins for me and my kids, and either the ones next door or across the hall (depending on what parents decide I should book for the kids) is not free, I'm hoping that the line *might* be willing to see if someone would move for me. And if they find someone, that those people would be gracious about it. Finding triples/quads is hard enough. Adding in someone who won't move to an identical cabin on the other side of the ship, especially after being offered $100 and a bottle of wine, is kind of sad. Pixelate Posted January 23, 2015 #86 Share Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) This posting is so over the top as to laughable. It reminds me of the DIS boards when someone screams "hidden disability". Seriously your loss ( and i'm sorry) has nothing to do with the op. So true. :D:D:D Edited January 23, 2015 by Pixelate

Just a heads up that the non-related kids will need to be booked in a cabin with an adult 25 years or older. Only your children can be booked alone in a cabin nearby. To the OP, move or don't move, it is certainly your choice as you paid to pick out your cabin. If it were me, and there was absolutely no difference, I would move if it was a family needing be near family issue. Now, if it was an issue of someone wanting my port side room or something like that, I probably wouldn't move.

When you throw the reason why into the mix it turns the OP into a judge. Heck, the reason Carnival may give him may not even be correct. They probably shouldn't be divulging info like that anyway... Other than to say someone else requires that room. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

ajee622 Posted January 23, 2015 Author #92 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I moved the room. It was for a family that needed it for their child who needed assistance. YumYumSweetiePie Posted January 23, 2015 #96 Share Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) This thread is way too funny. People telling the OP that he's basically evil and should die of bad karma because he doesn't want to give up his stateroom for scenario X (fill in reason X with whatever hypothetical story they've decided is likely the case here). Can we all just remember this is a cruise? OP isn't hogging all the food, healthcare, and necessary resources to live. It's a cruise! Cruises are not necessary to breathe. You know what happens when a sold out cruise can't accommodate you? Nothing, the world keeps spinning, you choose another type of vacation or you pick another ship. I'm sure everyone can also come up with a hypothetical situation where you just NEED to book this cruise but come on, it's a luxury, it's something we do with disposable income. Lighten up people. Glad it all worked out here but remember, despite how awesome cruises are, they're not the end all be all to life!
