ldlewis45 Posted January 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I just put a 24 hour hold on a Havana Cabana for the transatlantic cruise. It looks lovely. I'm glad to see that Carnival is updating their style from garish 70s/80s to something that looks higher-end. As a solo cruisers, though, I wish that Carnival would update their deposit policy for long sailings. $800 is a bit much, especially when a lot of other mass-market lines don't charge a double deposit for solo cruisers. It's somewhat tolerable for higher-grade rooms, but if you're booking an interior stateroom, that's about half of the cost of the entire cruise! For my 14-day NCL Epic west-bound TA, which I also took as a solo cruiser, I only had to put down a $250 deposit.
whtvrrob Posted January 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I'm in a 1A, total cost around $1300, deposit was still $800 so over half.

I can't imagine booking that room in the fall/winter months.:o I would agree. We are booked for a 10 day in September and was looking at the Havana cabins but decided we probably wouldn't get a lot of use out of the pool area with such a port intensive itinerary. crzndeb Posted January 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I feel the your pain. I am also a solo traveler and booked 3 legs...$2400 But I look at the positive side. Since I use air miles to fly international, I would rather get credit for the miles earlier than later.
