Bonnie J. Posted February 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2015 We know most of the ships so go get lunch. I often go to the carving bar where the meat is usually roast beef. I get slices then get French bread and make a sandwich.
paul929207 Posted February 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 2, 2015 First we go to our cabin and drop off our carry on luggage. (We sail Princess and their cabins are ready when boarding begins.) Then we usually make our way to the buffet for lunch
dsrdsrdsr Posted February 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2015 Drop stuff off in the cabin (P&O), then up to the Conservatory for a cup of tea.
ger_77 Posted February 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 2, 2015 Drop off our luggage, grab DH's hands and do my happy dance while singing "We're going on a cruise, we're going on a cruise". Then we (read: I) collect myself, and we calmly go for our first drink of the day and lunch. Smooth Sailing! :) :) :)
cb at sea Posted February 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2015 We eat a late breakfast so we don't need eating to be the 1st thing we do! I'll wear my bathing suit under my clothes so I can head to the pool!

flwrgirl4022 Posted February 2, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2015 While not the VERY first thing I do when I arrive, I did this on my last trip which seemed to make my trip easier. I was on the Caribbean Princess and took part in their scavenger hunt. They gave you a card that had to be stamped at all the venues (casino, spa, photographer, etc.) and then you turned it in for a chance to win something. We won a photo actually. It really helped me figure out the layout of the ship and how to get around more easily. So if they have something like that on your ship, I'd recommend that activity. It forced us to learn where everything is and how to get around which in turn made us walk around the ship with confidence afterwards. AND we learned about the incredible thermal suites, which we would have missed out on. And as far as the happy dance everyone is doing ... I've being doing THAT since I booked my trip! :D I'm so excited that I can barely sleep. 35 days and counting down.
bobbycruiser Posted February 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2015 If it is a ship I have not yet been on, I take a walking tour and try to get a feel for the layout as quickly as possible....although there are times that even after a week on board some ships, I still have no clue where the hell I am. Lol. And then, like most people, food and drinks!!!
NMLady Posted February 2, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2015 If cabin is ready, usually not, we drop off our Carryons. Then we either explore the ship or go to lunch or go to lounge to relax with a drink. Depends on what time it is and whether we've been on that ship before or not. royal girl Posted February 2, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2015 I text all my friends at work and tell them I'm now on the ship getting ready for my first drink... just to rub it in! haha :D
OCruisers Posted February 2, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2015 Newbie here..... what are the first things you do when you get on the ship? On which cruise line will you be sailing? Some cruise lines allow us to immediate access to our cabin, others don't. That does make a difference in what we do first. :) LuLu
JTBCruiser Posted February 2, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2015 I give my DW a big hug and kiss and say, "Sweet Baby" we're on vacation. :D
rmvst Posted February 2, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2015 First I go to my cabin to drop off my carry on luggage. I then head to Lido for lunch, since I'm usually to excited to eat breakfast. Then I explore the ship. After that if all goes well, I unpack. then let the fun begin.

maryann ns Posted February 2, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) Only been on Azamara where we sip the free bubbly, chat with ship's officers, and make reservations for specialty restaurants. SewMuch Posted February 2, 2015 #19 Share Posted February 2, 2015 I like to check out the ship's newsletter to see what's going on, when and where. Somehow that's when I feel the fun has begun. Also we check out the whole ship, even places we won't be using, like the chapel and the library. Just to see what they look like. But if you're asking if there is anything official that needs doing after you board, the answer is everything is taken care of before you board. So hit the deck running! Cruisin' Chick Posted February 2, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 2, 2015 First we go to our cabin and drop off our carry on luggage. (We sail Princess and their cabins are ready when boarding begins.) Then we usually make our way to the buffet for lunch We're the same way. Go to our cabin, unpack the carry ons, grab the first day Patter, and go to the Horizon for lunch (while I read the Patter to see when the drill is,etc). Krazy Kruizers Posted February 2, 2015 #21 Share Posted February 2, 2015 First we drop off our carry-ons in the cabin. Then we go and introduce ourselves to our concierges and have them check to re-confirm the specialty restaurants that I have pre-booked. Since we are 5 star mariners on HAL we are entitled to 2 free Pinnacle dinners and we have the concierges book them. Then we head to the dining room for lunch. cucruizin Posted February 3, 2015 #23 Share Posted February 3, 2015 Drop off the carry ons, pick up a drink, and wander around the ship to get a feel for where things are located.
CHEZMARYLOU Posted February 3, 2015 #24 Share Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) We sail Celebrity so we start by sipping the welcome aboard sparkling wine. Then inquire about special dinners that we might be interested in and head to Cellar Masters to see who the Cellar Master is on the sailing and to have our 1st glass of wine. If we were on a new class of ship we would take a quick tour of the public spaces before heading for lunch. wassup4565 Posted February 3, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 3, 2015 I do not want to introduce a downer. But the first thing I do when I can get in my cabin is wipe the whole thing down with disinfectant wipes. Every drawer pull, handle, phone, remote, flat surface, chair arms...everything the previous people may have touched. I don't know whether they had a sneezing cold, or a gastro issue. But what I know is the cabin attendant will not have had enough turnaround time to clean every knob and door handle they could have touched. So I wipe it all. Just a little insurance for the rest of my cruise. After that, I get the drink of the day, and get ready to boogie!
