CruisingSnooter Posted February 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Anyone have any recent experience with the hairdryers in the room?
Cruiseaholichal Posted February 6, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2015 It was there-- I used it.
jayscore Posted February 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2015 My wife says the cabin hair dryer is better than no hair dryer at all, what ever that means.
NoDayButToday Posted February 6, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2015 They are ok...simple and not very high powered. My dryer from home is way better, but I have short hair so I normally end up just using the room one.

aggieljh Posted February 6, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2015 My wife has fairly long hair, and she usually tries to use it...but eventually gives up. She said that she is taking her own this summer.
mrstriceasnice Posted February 6, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I used it but the power barely dried my hair. This last cruise I brought my own. My friend who was in the next cabin over just went out on the balcony to let the wind dry her hair.
bar1068 Posted February 6, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2015 Yep, wife used one on our first cruise. The combination of the hair dryer and steam from the shower set off the smoke detector in the cabin, which we did not realize until cabin phone rang, person on other end was the ships captain asking if everything was ok, then a knock at the door and 2 crew members with fire gear showed up. Don't believe she's used once since.
firespud Posted February 6, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I always use it, but I have very fine, medium length hair. If I were trying to style my hair using it I would probably not, but I still use a curling iron for styling. The hair dryer is in a drawer and attached to the drawer. The cord is not very long so I would think it would be hard to use to style your hair.
dmdiver Posted February 6, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I've always used the one in the cabin. My hair is fine, medium length. If you have thick hair, you may want to take your own.
cacroozr Posted February 6, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 6, 2015 I brought my own and was glad I did. They do have one but it's pretty low powered. I have very thick hair and it would've taken forever to dry.
N2Mischief Posted February 7, 2015 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2015 I have a neuro-muscular auto-immune disease which causes rapid muscle fatigue. I have to use a band around the button to keep the dryer going. It irritates me that the dryer wont just stay on, so I bring my own now. I have long hair and the dryers are pretty weak. Rare trbarton Posted February 7, 2015 #15 Share Posted February 7, 2015 Anyone have any recent experience with the hairdryers in the room? You don't say which ship you're interested in as some ships don't have any hair dryers. Do you have a specific ship in Mind?

eng4 Posted February 7, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 7, 2015 If you have short hair its fine. You have to hold the button down the whole time you use it. I have thick hair, I bring my own.

I thought they all had them. Does the Splendor have dryers? I told our group of 4 cabins not to bother bringing dryers.
gadan1 Posted February 7, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 7, 2015 (edited) Really?? I thought they all had them. Does the Splendor have dryers? I told our group of 4 cabins not to bother bringing dryers. Splendor yes. But not all ships do; the fantasy class ships do not; Conquest, Splendor, Spirit classes all do. CruisingSnooter Posted February 7, 2015 Author #21 Share Posted February 7, 2015 I'll be on the Pride. Thanks for all the feedback...I have naturally curly hair that I like to straighten, so I think I will lug mine with me!
IPlayWithString Posted February 7, 2015 #22 Share Posted February 7, 2015 Anyone have any recent experience with the hairdryers in the room? The ones we had last year on the Triumph were a freaking joke. :( I have fairly thick hair and at the time, it was longish (past my shoulders). It took over an hour to dry my hair properly and after the second day of that, I gave up because it was just too big of a pain in the neck.
