crisstyd Posted February 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We leave in a few days on the Freedom and have cruised many times. My DH loves to go to the pool, me not so much. I tend to burn. I usually go to the casino, only this time I am looking for other things to do when we are at sea. I do plan to catch up on some reading. I am curious to know what have some of you done on the Freedom to entertain yourselves? I do not want to do spa treatments. Any ideas?

We also make sure every day to walk a few miles on the track. Occasionally we play a round of putt-putt, go to various demonstrations like ice carving or towel animals, and generally stroll the ship. People watching is wonderful. And did I mention eat? Holy cow do we eat! And drink! Having nothing to do for us is a blessing - quite the opposite of everyday life. In2why Posted February 10, 2015 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2015 I think they still do high tea in the afternoons and I would definitely look into the sushi class. I love Sushi and would find it fun to learn how to make it. I like to read so for me a shady spot and a good book is a slice of heaven. Also a good day to find all your pictures. Even though we didn't buy them they were fun to look for and at. I did wind up buying one of the photos of one of my son's because he was actually grinning from ear to ear and usually doesn't in pictures. The ice carving exhibition was on sea day as well. If you look at the fun times you are sure to find things to do.

cmptrwiz Posted February 11, 2015 #10 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We like to take a nap in the afternoon, people watch from seats in the shade, hang out at the serenity area while listing to an MP3 player, watch an in room movie or "together" time in the cabin (or in a lifeboat) if you are a little adventurous! crisstyd Posted February 11, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Thanks for all the replies. You would think I would know what to do by now having cruised so much! I did not know about Tea Time. I will have to check that out. I have visited the Art Auction before, I will look into that again. I most likely won't buy anything, DH would kill me. I also like the idea of the cooking demos and behind the scenes tours. I made a list and will refer to it when I get bored and am tempted to head to the casino. It may be best for me to make a plan the night before.
kona_wahine Posted February 11, 2015 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) I, too, wish there was more to do on sea days. Classes, demos, etc. I tend to get bored. That's why I like cruises with just a couple sea days and not two back to back. Edited February 11, 2015 by kona_wahine

It goes from 8.30am to 1 pm, and you can either go for breakfast or for lunch/brunch, depending on your schedule, and some people actually go twice, for breakfast and again for lunch. The menu allows for that time lapse. On my cruise last November, I only got to go once on my last sea day, and I am so sorry that I did not go on the two other sea days. Excellent menu, good food and service in the main dining room. I had the huevos rancheros and the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert, both of which were excellent. So, sea day brunch is tops on my list, and other than that, just find a favorite spot on the ship and relax and enjoy a day at sea.:)

bajangoddess82 Posted February 11, 2015 #17 Share Posted February 11, 2015 On every cruise, someone from my party always brings a pack of Uno cards... we all gather on the Lido deck [in the shade] and play Uno, eat, drink, and people watch :) Always a fun time! BigB0882 Posted February 11, 2015 #18 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Sea Days are my favorite. I would take a cruise if all it did was go out and anchor in the middle of the ocean and then return home a few days later. We get the list of activities from the night before and go over what we want to attend. The rest of the time is spent eating, gambling, sitting out on the decks (or balcony if you have one), more gambling, drinking, etc. There is NOTHING more relaxing to me than a sea day. An entire day to do whatever the heck I want, not have to be anywhere and no phone calls or emails to disrupt me. This is why I love cruising! YB Nrml Posted February 11, 2015 #22 Share Posted February 11, 2015 We check out every nook and cranny of the ship. Go in the library and have a look around, they've usually got some very interesting items on display. We go to almost all of the trivia we can. Even if we don't participate it's usually good for a laugh! :D On most of our trips there have been a group of cruisers that all belong to a dance group like swing or square dance. It's great to watch them practice in the disco during the day time. We also make it a point to go down the water slide a couple of times, what a blast! And we almost always manage to get in a nap every afternoon. Favorite thing though is to spend time out on our balcony.

shealea Posted February 11, 2015 #25 Share Posted February 11, 2015 My dh tends to want to sleep in a bit later than me. I'm always so excited that I'm up and want to get out and about earlier than he does. Also, he'll hang out in the cabin now and then when he's tired. He'll watch a movie or take a nap. I always find fun things to do in the daily activities paper. I've done trivia, wii bowling, a photo taking/camera talk, cooking demonstration, and many other activities. I even think it's fun to watch activities I don't join in with. Zumba for one. I like to people watch! I always have a book or x-stitch project with me and will sit on deck with that and relax. We brought a backgammon game with us and played that. I liked going to the library and browse through books.
