Recommendations for where to book on the Pride?

Hi all,

I'm going to be booking soon for an 11-night cruise out of Baltimore on the Pride and am looking for recommendations on cabin location. I will most likely be booking oceanview (though may upgrade to balcony). I've haven't sailed on any of the smaller/mid-size ships before, but have always seemed to like port-side, either mid-ship or aft on other cruises. Any thoughts on this area on the Pride or anything specific I should consider about it?

Thanks!

the only ocean view rooms on the pride i believe are on the riviera deck 1. and there are no good rooms on riviera deck. you are below the promenade deck which has bars, casino, and main show lounge. in the aft rooms you are close to the dance night club which is 2 levels. promenade level and riviera level. this bar is loud with heavy bass. and it goes late sometimes 4 am. in the front of the boat is the main show lounge on 2,3 and 4th floor. look at the deck plans and find a balcony room on deck 5 (mid ship and aft the show lounge is on deck 4 forward), 6, and 7. these decks are insulated with rooms above and below you and that is what i always look for in a room. on deck 5 they have obstructed view balcony 7A which you can usually get a good deal on. the obstruction are life boats below you. you can look straight out with no obstruction, but if you look down you will see the life boats. i have had a 7A obstructed balcony on the miracle (sister ship to the pride)and it was fine. it was also cheap.

The 4K french door staterooms are considered interiors and are cheaper than outside rooms. The doors open and the rooms are as big as and set up like balconies. If you look at the deck plans if there are any available between the lifeboats you will get a pretty good view.

I agree with the last 2 suggestions. Either do a 4K French Door room or an obstructed balcony, depending on your budget. I've had a 4K, and even though we couldn't get one between lifeboats, which means we had a 100% lifeboat view & no view of the water, I would still take one of those over an oceanview. To be able to open the door & get some fresh air & sunlight was better than having a window. If you could get one between lifeboats to get a bit of a view, then that's even better. And 4Ks are cheaper than the oceanviews.

If your budget allows it, the obstructed view balcony rooms sit right on top of the 4Ks, one deck up. The lifeboats stop at the railing of the balcony, giving you a nice view outward.

We have only ever sailed in 4ks between lifeboats on her sister ship the Legend. They are the best! Great location down to dinner and to the lobby as well. On deck plans book a cabin that is next to a rectangle and not next to the big oval things on the outside..4149 is an example.

Here is another cruisers photo of a 4k view (between lifeboats)

Here is one in front of a lifeboat (not as good)

We've had a mix of cabins on the Pride and sister ship, Legend. Our favorite cabin type is the obstructed balcony. My only caution would be to book away from the kids area at the front of the ship. Excited kids love to race down that hallway on their way to meet up with new friends. Check out pictures of the ship to determine which lifeboats are smaller. Cabins with smaller lifeboats have better views.

I disagree that there are NO good OV rooms on the Pride. Our 1st time on her we had rooms 1195 & 1199 which is now under Bonsai sushi. That I believe has limited hours so noise shouldn't be a problem. It is right near the laundry and elevators. When you come back from a port. you don't have to wait for an elevator because you go down 1 flight to your cabin and only 1 flight up to the dining room. I loved it there. It was a great location. Keep in mind that Beauties dance club on the Port side aft so I would stay away from there.

Hope you enjoy your time on the Pride. We do.

I have an aft cabin on Empress booked and I have read a few people say aft cabins vibrate and sway a lot and it can cause seasickness. I'm happy that no one here so far has mentioned this as I have considered switching to another location.

Anyone confirm or deny the aft rumor?

Just last night we booked a balcony cabin on Pride, 4th floor, midship. It's a beautiful location near the elevators, and previous reviews of that specific cabin reported no noise at all.

One thing I noticed about the Pride when making our decision was that obstructed balcony cabins are (as of yesterday) only $40 more expensive than oceanview! At that price, why not opt for the fresh air?

4k or 7a are the best bang for your buck. If you go for the obstructed balcony, go further back from the first 3 lifeboats on both sides. Those are bigger and block more of your site line. If you sit down, you cannot look through the glass and see water. But if you are standing-like watching going in or out of port, it is fine.

Or you can splurge and get one of the bowling alley balconys.

How can you not love those? :)

I had a vista suite on the Pride and there was a lot of vibration. The closer to end of the ship the worse it is. The balcony on the vista suite made up for it.

The Balcony on the Vista is so worth it, yes there is some vibration. But the view is great. We even booked it again, with the adjoining balcony for our next family cruise. so we will have our own 2 bedroom suite with living area. Yea.

We have not been on it yet but are looking forward to it.

We have Cabin 6232, an extended balcony. The Balcony is 180 sq feet, almost the same size of the room.

The back of the boat does vibrate A LOT. It drove us crazy when we were waiting for dinner and everyone noticed it. I was glad our room was not there. When walking through deck 1, we also noted that it was very noisy due to the night club.

Our group all had the French door rooms on level 4 and were pleased with them. There wasn't really a view but they were quiet and you could open the door for some fresh air or a temperature check. They were mid ship which was nice for getting around and did not feel much movement in them.

We were just on Pride last week and had a fabulous cruise! We were in 4230 - an aft cabin on the Main deck. The only time we heard noise in our cabin was one night when we turned in early. We could hear the 2 songs that were played in the Normandie dining room during the late seating of dinner. Other than that no noise problems at all. There is a lot of vibration in the aft cabins especially when the ship is in high gear to get home to Baltimore. It did not bother us too much but if you are sensitive to it or are a light sleeper you may not want to book an aft cabin. We LOVE aft cabins and will take the view anytime even with the vibrations!

My daughter just had the very first cabin located on Deck 1 forward (room 1102 I believe) and it's right outside the Butterflies Lounge. She said that she didn't hear anything in there at all...coming from the lounge or upstairs. She said the only time she heard anything was after she walked out of her door. She loved the OV cabin and said there was very little movement felt. :)
