Playa Palancar or Paradise Beach?

Will be sailing on Elation next week...yay! Looking for a "free beach", not AI, in Cozumel. Was planning on PB after doing some research but just starting looking at Play Palancar and it looks really nice, maybe more laid back than PB. It will be my mom's first time in Cozumel and just wanted to show her a true beautiful beach for the day with possibly some hammocks, a massage, a frozen drink and a nice relaxing time. Is it a lot further from the pier (punta lagosta)sp? than PB?

Would appreciate any opinions or suggestions! TIA!

Playa Palancar usually has fewer people. Even on a busy day most cruisers don't arrive until after 10:00 and they leave by 2:00. Go early and stay late. PP is about as far as you can get from Punta Langosta and still stay on that side of the island. There are a couple of other beach clubs past them, but not many. Most Carnival ships dock at Puerta Maya unless there are a bunch of ships in port.

The Elation is at Puerta Maya on the 9th (Monday) but at Punta Langosta (downtown pier) on Wednesday the 4th, and again on the 14th and the 18th. Taxi fare to Palancar from PM is 310MxP (US$24) for up to 4 people. each way. You can add 100MxP ($13) to that from downtown. Paradise Beach is only 190MxP ($14-15) from PM. Look into Corona Beach or San Francisco Beach for "quieter" beaches in the same vicinity as Paradise Beach.

We've been to Paradise Beach twice, and will be returning there on our cruise in June. It only cost us $3.00 per person to get in with the expectation that we spend $20.00 per person on food/drinks. It is quiet, there are hammocks, there are drinks of the beer, mixed and frozen variety and it is laid back.
