Desdichado62 Posted January 25, 2016 Author #376 Share Posted January 25, 2016 My wife and I will arrive at Arlanda Airport on Thursday, July 28 at 17:30 and will be boarding our cruise ship the next day at 13:00 at Vartahamnen. Should we try for a hotel near Vartahamnen? Or take the Arlanda Express to Central Station and stay near there? We probably won't be touring around Thursday evening after 2 flights, but may make time Friday morning to see a little of Stockholm. Well it's down to what you prefer really so it's your call on whether you want to stay closer to Värthamnen or if you want to stay down town. There is a hotel (Scandic Ariadne) close to where your ship docks and with bus stops nearby. Bus ride from Centralstation to Värthamnen will take about 30-40 minutes and will require one change. Closest stop to where your ship will berth is either Hangövägen or Malmvägen. For Friday morning, goto Vasa first (be there when they open at 08.30) then head to Gamla Stan. From Gamla stan (Räntmästartrappan* or Slottsbacken) to your ship, you can use bus #76 towards Ropsten journey will take around 25 minutes. ican82 Posted January 27, 2016 #377 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Thank you Desdichado. We think that we will stay close to the Central Station and follow your advice for the Friday morning tour. We'll leave our bags at the hotel, then take a taxi from there right to the port. We are looking at Frey's Hotel, Central Hotel, Scandic Grand Central and the Elite Hotel Adlon. Any comments or suggestions?
leavesofapple Posted January 27, 2016 #378 Share Posted January 27, 2016 I have tried Frey´s and Adlon, both nice hotels. Also Nordic C, just outside the exit from Arlanda Express, and Royal Viking, just outside the Central Station. With Frey´s and Adlon yoy have a couple of minutes walk from Arlanda Express/Central Station.
vplsh Posted January 29, 2016 #379 Share Posted January 29, 2016 We are thinking of doing a free walking tour of the city and then going to the ABBA museum. Do you think we'll really miss out if we don't do the VASA museum?

Do you think we'll really miss out if we don't do the VASA museum? Yes you would. It was awarded 9th place on Trips advisor's users' Top 25 Museums — World http://www.tripadvisor.com/TravelersChoice-Museums#1 http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g189852-d208277-Reviews-Vasa_Museum-Stockholm.html This is an improvement from 2014 when they were voted 13th best museum in the world. phoebeparker Posted February 2, 2016 #382 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Hello! Can you suggest one or more stores for fabrics and sewing supplies? Of course, preferably close to Gamla Stan. Thanks in advance.
