Ensenada port of departure

Recommended Posts

We did a cruise from Ensenada to Seattle on the Solstice. At that time the Solstice could not end the cruise in Vancouver so it was done to meet the foreign port requirement. We checked in in San Diego and we were bussed to the ship. There were some people who had long waits for the busses - we had AQ class and got priority bus boarding.

I did - once - quite a few years ago. I think they use Ensenada as a starting point for Hawaii to get the one foreign port in, then they can open the casino and duty free shops.

It is used to comply with the PVSA. They cannot start a cruise in one US port and end in a different US port without visiting a distant foreign port. Ensenada is not a distant foreign port but is used so that they are not starting or ending a cruise in a US port.
