caddykid12 Posted March 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2015 Has anyone been on the new 2.0 carnival pride? What are your reviews of it if any? Never have been on the pride before. Only the splendor and I know that is a much bigger ship. My question is. How big is the lido deck. Do the still do lots of activities on deck and dancing contests and whatnot. Just seems like there's no room to do any of that. 2nd is... how nice is the casino? Smokey? Is there an electronic poker table? And is it usually full or empty? Any Comments about your cruise on the pride will be very helpful as I just booked the 14 day itinerary for this ship. 7th floor mid ship with extended balcony Want to know what's the best features and what is best to do on board. Older non 2.0 reviews are welcomed too. Thanks everyone
Viscus Posted March 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2015 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2168461 My full cruise review from our 7 day western carribean on the Pride back in February. We absolutely loved this ship, so far our favorite Carnival ship.
theriac Posted March 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2015 I was on deck 7 in an extended balcony and loved it! The lido seemed to have plenty of space as its separated into two sections. The casino could be smokey at times but didn't seem out of the ordinary from any other ship that I've been on. It is a smaller ship and that is something that concerned me, but I actually really loved it. It never seemed crowded as there's a good passenger to ship ratio. There was the electronic poker table and at times it was full but it seems most people aren't a fan of it. I'm not a big poker player so I'm not sure if it was full or empty most of the time but I did see people there. The 2.0 upgrades where really nice to get to enjoy on this ship. I sailed the Breeze in 2013 and fell in love with all of the extra things they offer. I've read some pretty bad reviews about playlist productions, but I don't like stage shows so I have no idea if they're good or not. I did hear people say they enjoyed 88 keys though. Overall I had a blast and would highly recommend this ship to anyone who asked my opinion on it. To me the size of the ship seemed important at first, but after sailing the Pride it's now clear to me that the amenities offered are far more important. Again I loved how the ship never felt crowded. There were a ton of activities during the day from trivia, lido deck dance parties, friendly competition and just an overall good time. If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them. Also again the cabin was great and the only thing I wish was different is that the upgraded the television set in the room. Other than that it was absolutely great, including the location! It was easy to just run up 2 flights of stairs to get some lunch to bring back to the balcony to enjoy, and just a few decks down to enjoy all of the inside activities! Hope you have as much fun as I did! 14 days on the Pride sounds great. I wanted to be on the current 14 day repositioning cruise it's doing now but scheduling conflicts kept me from being there. eas2225 Posted March 24, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2015 We'll be on the Pride in May, our 4th time on this ship, so I guess we like it! It will be our first time after the 2.0. Like others have said, it never feels crowded, and I like how easy it is to navigate the entire ship. These are the best features, for us. This time we'll also be on deck 7, extended balcony, which we've never had before but looking forward to it. David's Steakhouse is a wonderful restaurant and it's a nice way to have a leisurely, quiet dinner. I haven't found the casino to be too smoky, but I read where they now will have a no smoking section, so that should help. What we love the most on the Pride is the staff. They are the friendliest, happiest we've ever had. Enjoy your 14 days on the Pride!

My pvp said the 2.0 upgrade included new flatscreens??? Maybe not then. But if your a cruise a TV in your room should not make or break you lol!! The pride has the same exact specs as NCL Gem and that was a comfortable size ship. Just after being on Splendor size worried me. And thanks alot for the awesome link to your review V. I am on page 5 til I fell asleep last night. Just WANT to be sure they do alot of activities as I do not want to go stir crazy as I am 23 yrs old. I know it's a spring break week but don't know how many my age would book a 14 day cruise. Not sure of the age demographic but we'll find out Have you been on a 14 day before? Do you know how many points u need on a 14 day cruise for the drinks on us card. 1-5 days is 1000 pts and 5-9 days is 1500pts Thanks for all the help so far! theriac Posted March 25, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I was on the 3rd or 4th sailing after dry dock and my TV hadn't been upgraded and I heard from others on board that their cabins tv's hadn't been upgraded either. They may have been changing out the TVs though over time doing certain decks or cabins over time. Maybe someone who has more recently sailed can chime in and let you know. Rare aubreyc1988 Posted March 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2015 the one nice thing about upgraded tvs is that they are a bit brighter - and we always set the tv to the bridge cam, so it can let some "Light" into a pitch dark inside room
theriac Posted March 25, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I agree with an inside the TV is important for the reason you stated. It really helps with getting some "natural" light.
caddykid12 Posted March 25, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I'm just worried for 14 days if the 2.0 overhaul will keep guests from going stir crazy. Did the pride have the hasbro game show night in the main theater? I read that was one of the upgrades on the 2.0 projects. My pvp claims they are all flat screens but every video on YouTube of 2015 begs to differ Guess more reviews might come after it begins sailing next week full time put of Maryland
theriac Posted March 25, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2015 They did do Hasbro game show on my sailings but I didn't attend. You will have plenty to do. Lots of trivia and other games the entertainment staff does. Lots of night/adult entertainment as well. Sometimes PVPs don't have all the answers and just like to say things that you want to hear. I had a PVP tell me Carnival trip insurance covers flights even if I didn't book my flight with them which isn't true at all. If I have a question but still aren't sure if my PVP or customer service got it right I call until a few people give me the same answer. Especially people who aren't the ones making a commission on me. I've never been worried about getting bored on a ship as if there's nothing I'm interested in I will go relax and take a nap. To me that's what cruising is about, relaxation. Especially with a balcony though getting bored is hard to do because lounging out there is just so peaceful and before you know it hours have gone by. I even slept on my balcony multiple nights just sitting out there with a drink and next thing you know the sun is waking me up. You will have a great time on the pride. Also if you want to take a nap but aren't tired, eat a burger at Guy's, I was always asleep within 45 minutes of finishing it!
rosemont5380 Posted March 25, 2015 #12 Share Posted March 25, 2015 Just a quick question for those of you that have been on the Pride since the updates. Have you noticed if the ship still has the giant chess board? Thanks

Harrier1961 Posted March 25, 2015 #15 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I know this is about the Pride, but what I want to know, since the Miracle is now going through drydock and these two are the same class, why isn't she gettiing the full 2.0 upgrades like the Pride did? Such a shame. Andy
coasterjan Posted March 25, 2015 #16 Share Posted March 25, 2015 I was on the first sailing after dry dock, and I liked the new water slides/ water park best of all. My husband was the very first guest to use the Green Thunder water slide... :) My memory is pretty bad, but I thought our TV was a flat screen. I don't pay much attention to it, but I vaguely remember my husband commenting on it. It wasn't a very *large* flat screen, though. We were in an ocean view room on the first floor - perhaps they started at the bottom floor and are working their way up? Janis
caddykid12 Posted March 27, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted March 27, 2015 Bump. I know the repo cruise from Tampa just came back and the pride sails it's first voyage march 29th. Would love to hear reviews from these 2 cruises
jetta8300 Posted March 28, 2015 #18 Share Posted March 28, 2015 from what I read, the ship was supposed to get all flat screens in the rooms, and some of them did. But then there was some sort of huge problem and they either stopped working, or they couldn't get the majority of them to work. So they went back to the old TV's and have not fixed the problem since. Very disappointing! Although I think the suites have the flat screen TVs. Also I heard the miracle was not getting all of the bells and whistles for the 2.0 upgrades due to the location they had the drydock. wherever the dry dock took place, they are unable to do the amount of upgrades. I think they said it took place on the west coast and that's why.
Rare mitsugirly Posted March 28, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 28, 2015 I will be on the April 4th sailing out of Baltimore and will do a complete review loaded with pictures when I return. I can't wait! I have read that some of the rooms got the flat screens and others didn't and it's still like that now from what I have read. A flat screen isn't going to make or break a cruise for me. :) I can't wait to hit the green thunder. woo hoo :D
rosemont5380 Posted March 28, 2015 #20 Share Posted March 28, 2015 Mitsugirly- that would be great. While there try to see if you notice the big chessboard too. Thanks so much, can't wait for your review.

Pictures will be awesome of the new 2.0 upgrades. Lido deck pics will be nice to see if there is any difference being it has a seaside theatre now. Sucks I gotta wait another 351 days for mine but O well! Plenty of time to save for a 14 day itinerary! Can't wait but until then have a great trip! The2.0 updates are nice, but 14 days was a little long for us.. We were a group of 8 people, 4 cabins, two on deck 7 and two on deck 1... none of us had flat screen TV's in our cabins. We are 55 to 60 years old, and thought most passangers were older then us. I believe that 14 days is a little too long, as the entertainment especially the music repeats quite often. Yes, they had Hasbro the game show along with 4 production shows. I can tell you that getting off the ship was a breeze if you did self assist and a nightmare if you did not, as most of the passangers did not do self assist. caddykid12 Posted April 5, 2015 Author #25 Share Posted April 5, 2015 I guess this will be a relaxing cruise for me. I am 23 as I stated so seems like NO ONE us even near my age group. But having 8 straight days of ports I will not even notice the ages. As i only have to stay busy with the 5 seas days. I'm now hoping to have some spring breakers on board next year just so I have someone in the 20s to possibly hang out with. But in today's world I don't know many 21-25 yr olds that can afford a cruise this lomg What was your itinary if u don't mind me asking?
