Empress of the Seas 5/29/04

From our previous sailings that time is accurate. There is no need to be on-board for the move to Hamilton, unless you wish to...it is a nice, short, interesting trip (but you will see the same views, in reverse, as we depart Bermuda). Just go about your day as planned, but return to the ship in Hamilton. Treat it like your hotel moved!! icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the info on the time we move from the Dockyard to Hamilton. We were planning on hopping the bus and going up to John Smith's Bay and then down to Elbow beach. We will just hop the ferry and then catch a bus.

Really getting excited now icon_cool.gif..it's our first time to Bermuda.

Hooray Carol!! Now you can relax!!

We're bussing down from Worcester MA, and it will be a long ride (we find the return longer, because we're exhausted,...going we're excited so it goes by rather quickly!)...we leave at 9 a.m. (be early, cuz the bus won't wait past the scheduled departure time!), and we have never reached the ship earlier than 1:30, sometimes as late as 3:15. Fear not, even if the bus is delayed by traffic, etc., the ship will wait, as the tranport is provided by the cruiseline!

3 weeks from today we'll be relaxing at sea...sigh! Can't wait!!! icon_smile.gif

Same here Seafoam. My husband and I have been on several cruises, but this is our first time to Bermuda, too.

I really enjoy cruising in the evenings, so I hope I'm going to enjoy spending the night in port. Personally, I enjoy being on the ship - I don't care where it goes, but my husband is not as fond of cruising as I am and prefers to spend more time in one place, so this is kind of a compromise for us. Since we are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary, we tried to find something that we both would enjoy.

See you at the party on Sunday morning!

Texalana, A Bermuda cruise is a great compromise!! The only thing you may miss, having the ship in port in the evenings, is no casino, shopping, or production shows. All else is status quo! Even walking the outside decks in the evening is nice!

See you all soon!! icon_smile.gif

There are no shows in the evenings? I figured the casino would be closed and I didn't even think about the shopping, but no shows either? Are you serious?

Hi Texalana,
There will be no "professional" production type shows while docked in Bermuda. There is entertainment every night, put on by the cruise staff...such as The Newlywed Game, Novel Quest (both of which can be fun to watch), Passenger talent show, etc. And of course there will be music/dancing in the lounges, and probably karoake. Plenty to do, if you choose!!

Thanks for the reassurance, Fran and Ed. There for awhile I had the impression the ship would be pretty much shut down for the night. See you on Sunday morning!

I think I might like "Don't Stop the Carnival", but I haven't booked it yet. Are you doing that, Seafoam?

DH and I are booked on "Snorkeling at Castle and Charles Island" on Monday, "Longtail Snorkel and Sightseeing" on Tuesday and "Great Sound Sail and Swim" on Wednesday.

Does anyone else have any pre-booked shore excursions?
