I will still enjoy my cruises

Recommended Posts

As dumb as I think some of the changes are I will still enjoy the dinners, the drinks, the casino, the ports and seeing the great crew members I have know for years. (I can't say the shows cause 7 out my 8 next cruises are the BA and Rock of Ages stunk).

As they say, a bad day at sea is still better then a good day at work.

I just wanted to put that out there.

Agree 110%. Going to Bermuda next month on the Dawn, nothing is going to stop me from having a blast. NCL can do what they want, I may come back, I may not. We will see, but vacation is just that. Time to relax and have fun!

We are just over a month away from our first NCL sailing. Our honeymoon, seven years later :)

Perhaps it is "bad timing" to try the line when we are,but I also know we got a great deal including UBP and already pre paid our gratuities with the final payment. We will have very little out of pocket expenses at the time of sailing. We are going in with zero plans. Since the kids aren't going this trip,we can totally wing it,and I love that idea...

I've been stuck in bed all week ,just having had knee surgery,so I've had lots of time on CC. People are definitely passionate about their opinions. It's unfortunate that some people hide behind a screen and are so rude to one another at times. For those that have never cruised, and are coming here for help, I can imagine the last few weeks here on the NCL boards may be a bit off putting.

If NCL doesn't hit our marks,it won't be the new fees and rules that make up our minds for us. It would be the whole package, and then we will simply rotate back to another line..inevitably,we very much look forward to our sailing!

I just got off the Getaway. None of the "changes" affected the enjoyment of our cruise or really had any impact on us at all. Don't worry. I think you will have a marvelous time on your cruise!

I leave for my first NCL cruise in 5 days. I expect to have an amazing time!! We will be in the Med, in a balcony, with UDP, UBP, and OBC. Yes, how they rolled out the recent changes is unfortunate but I'm still gonna have an unforgettable trip!!

Won't let NCL changes get me down. I have 2 FCC's and plan on booking 2 cruises over the next 7 months. NCL's Studio/Solo setup is far and above what the competition has to offer.

More than your post did. I believe it adds to the board because although everyone is complaining and/or upset about this or that.....the OP is stating that no matter what, she's going to enjoy her cruise!

We are going to enjoy our 4 upcoming cruises too. With the promo UBP for 2, which we paid out of pocket for the last 2 cruises, $7.95 for room service (1 drink) isn't gonna kill us or an extra $1 or $3 a day pp DSC.

Each guest needs to decide what they consider a good value. Simple as that.

Seems the complainers are the same CCers on every thread and they love to post

Agree wholeheartedly! God forbid someone be positive.

I want to note that we were allowed to take anything in a bottle (wine/sparking water in our case) that was unfinished from any dining venue. There was a dessert we could not eat (too full) and the waitress sent it to our cabin via room service. It came nicely wrapped with a plate, utensils and a napkin within 5 minutes of us getting back to our cabin. No charge for this. I also asked about the case of sickness/child issue and was told that in that case, the waitstaff would do the same: send the rest of the food to the cabin via room service no charge.

During our cruise (we disembarked the Getaway this morning) I regularly saw people with snacks from the buffet and also beverages throughout the ship. There were people with coffee cups and fruit and yogurt, kids with cartons of milk and more - this on the forward stairs and in the forward elevators and the buffet on Getaway is aft. This new policy only creates a minor restriction - no take away orders from restaurants. One reason NCL may have implemented this is because if a restaurant is operating at full speed turning tables at least twice to three times in a dining service, if a bunch of other people make to go orders it would actually impact cooking the orders for those eating IN the restaurant as it could easily overwhelm the kitchen and cause the orders to come out very, very slowly or other production problems. For the restaurants, I think this may be the real reason behind why NCL made the decision not to allow to go orders and as a chef, I think it is a smart decision. It doesn't make sense to risk ruining a dinner service for the customers IN the dining room by allowing the kitchen to get overwhelmed by to go orders.

We are sailing for the first time with Norwegian in 52 days now :) Im not about to let room service fees, increased services charges, not being able to take food back to my cabin ruin my vacation. We cruised before but have always went with Disney in the past. When we booked, our promo of choice was the drink package. Would I have not booked if this wasn't a choice, nope! :) The changes also would never make me not book with NCL either. These are things you just have to plan for. Budget for the extra charges, eat all you can at your dinner so you don't have to ask for your left overs to be wrapped up :o I am sure somewhere on these super ships they have we can find something, somewhere at any given time.

We are looking forward to our cruise also!! And at the moment I haven't found another cruise line that offers what we want/need so NCL is what we will be doing in the future too.(at least the 8 ball says that anyway)

How does this add to the board?

It adds some positivity to a board that is becoming very negative.

I think the statement definitely adds to the board, a lot more than starting yet another room service or takeaway ban thread. It also adds more to the board than your question does.

I agree wholeheartedly that the ONLY intelligent move is to "still enjoy my cruises" in spite of changes. That doesn't mean anyone has to accept the moves of any cruise line that they don't agree with . If however the cruise is booked and you aren't going to cancel , then it would be foolish to go with a negative attitude.

You would only be hurting yourself.

Boy I thought as Canadians we were supposed to be polite, not rude and snarky . Edited by richstowe
